TTT holds Initiation and Installation of Officers

Two significant TTT ceremonies, Initiation and Installation of Officers, as well as a surprise presentation of a McFarland Clinic 2022 Trusted Choice Community Grant, highlighted the October meeting of Iowa ET of the National TTT Society, this week at Elim Lutheran Church.

Clare Wing and Angela Cope were welcomed as new TTT members, courtesy of sponsors, Maria Hazen and Sue Cope. Angela was recognized as a legacy TTT, as her sponsor-mother has been a member of Iowa ET since 1988.

Roe Welker, also a longtime TTT member and an employee of McFarland Clinic, nominated her chapter for one of McFarland’s Trusted Choice Community Grants, and it was announced that Iowa ET was one of 10 winners chosen at random from all nominations. McFarland will announce all the winners in conjunction with its Trusted Choice event, Nov. 1.

Members turned in the research on prospective supporters for the June 2023 TTT Golf Tournament, and Char Smothers, co-chair, announced a Nov. 1 deadline for completing and turning in remaining research. Both she and co-chair Lisa Dougall were recognized for the volume of preliminary work they’ve done to prepare for the chapter’s first-ever golf tournament fundraiser.

In regular business, Dougall presented both her monthly treasurer’s report and a proposal for the 2022-23 chapter budget. Members of her budget committee included Mary Kenagy, Bonnie Bradbury and Bev Hatcher; the budget was approved unanimously. Two former campers are attending college with TTT scholarship assistance: Ashley Wiegand, now at Des Moines University, and Bella Pantoja, a freshman at Des Moines Area Community College. A third former camper has applied for scholarship assistance and is scheduled to start classes at PCI, Ames, in November; a decision on her award has not been announced. Hazen spoke briefly about the chapter’s participation in the National TTT Society’s Community Service Project; both a project involving former campers and some type of work-day/giving-back-day were discussed, so planning will continue.

Hostesses were Hazen and Smothers. The Nov.15 meeting will also be at Elim Lutheran Church.

Starting at $4.38/week.
