Noon Lions Club disbands after 101 years

CONTRIBUTED PHOTO From left to right are: Jeremy Atkins, Riverside board member; John Winters, Lions secretary; Carol Winters, Lions vice president; Dorie Tammen, Riverside general manager and Board Member David Shearer. The Marshalltown Noon Lions Club is making a final $1000 donation as a club to the Riverside Cemetery.

For 101 years the Marshalltown Noon Lions Club has served the Marshalltown community. It has a rich history over those years. However, membership has diminished to the point it can no longer  continue to serve.

Community support for the club and its projects has greatly benefitted Marshalltown. The pancake breakfasts, selling peaches and the radio auction, to name a few, brought money into the club that helped provide glasses to those who could not afford to pay for them. The Lions Park will now revert back to the families of the original owner. Marshalltown residents can continue to support the Evening Lions Club so the gift of sight can still help so many others in need.
