Sigma Master celebrates Valentine’s Day

Sigma Master Chapter, Beta Sigma Phi met at Marshall County Ag Extension Office on Feb. 14. Caralee Hutchens hosted the day providing a chili soup luncheon, chocolate covered strawberries and cookies. Eight members and two guests answered the roll call with the question: “How did you like the super bowl outcome and halftime entertainment?”

President Diane Hobson thanked Hutchens. Minutes of the last meeting were read by Alice Nicholson and approved. Barb Noid gave the treasurer’s report with no change. Pop tabs and stamps were collected, along with calendars to be given to Iowa Veteran’s Home.

Letter was received from Xi Epsilon Xi of New Hampton regarding the “Their fight is our fight” JDRF Eastern Iowa 2022-23 State Project. Bonnie Speas made a motion to decline to support the project, and Elaine Fiscus seconded the motion and vote was in favor.

A M.I.N.K. convention for Oct. 13-15 bulletin was received to be held in Kansas City, Mo. This includes Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska and Kansas as a “Beta Sigma Phi in Wonderland” event. Reservations can be made by March 1 for $210.

Hobson also mentioned that a “member at large” had indicated returning her status, and if anyone of the “closed” chapters would like to join us, feel free to give Hobson a call. The group just meets once per month for lunch.

The meeting closed with Speas announcing she will host March 14 at El Portal.

Starting at $4.38/week.
