St. Rita’s Club holds January meeting

St. Rita’s Study Club met on Jan. 26 at the St. Henry Church dining room. Nineteen members attended the meeting hosted by Share Miriovsky, Karen Bursley and Nancy Hartliep.

President Joyce Sanders opened the meeting by leading members in the Prayer to St. Rita. Treasurer Denise Holubar reported to the group that she had sent donations to the Marshalltown Food Box, Salvation Army and the Iowa Veteran’s Home. The money was collected from the group for the purpose of Christmas donations. Members Sister Chris Feagan and Patty Bowman were part of a group that recently visited St. Francis’s sister parish in El Salvador. A donation was sent with them and given to the Religious Education program there.

Monica Fulton reminded members of the Beauty in Christ Women’s conference to be held Jan. 28. Fiat-Saying Yes to God is the theme of the conference, members can attend virtually at St. Henry Church. Pat Kirner reminded members of the Women’s CEW to be held the last weekend in February. Fulton shared a story about the connection of Blessed Marie Teresa to St. Rita. Updates were given on those needing prayers.

Following the business meeting Sister Chris Feagan gave a presentation on the fifth chapter of the book “The Eight Doors of the Kingdom,” Happy are the Merciful for they shall obtain Mercy. The next meeting will be Feb. 23 at the St. Henry Dining Room.
