Beta Sigma Phi elects officers

Sigma Master Chapter, Beta Sigma Phi met for lunch on March 14 at El Portal. Eight members and two guests were present and answered Roll Call to: “Are you ready for winter to end?”

President Diane Hobson opened the meeting thanking Bonnie Speas for hosting. Minutes of the February meeting were read and approved along with the Treasurer’s report given.

Election of officers was a discussion, and Caralee Hutchens made a motion to retain the same President, Secretary and Treasurer and a second was made by Jan Keller. Hobson then asked Barb Noid if she wished to continue as treasurer, Alice Nicholson as recording secretary, and Hutchens will remain as past president. There will be no installation in May, as all voted in favor.

With request for health issues, Dorothy Perry stated that Member at Large LaVonne Pollard is enjoying her stay at The Willows with her husband. Romaine Mackaman phoned to tell friends Hello and doing okay at the Ankeny Nursing Home. Elizabeth Wood and her husband are still living with their sons at home.

Founder’s Award was received from BEQ International to be presented to Virginia Bumsted for sixty years commitment. At this time she is presently in a nursing home, so family will be contacted.

Hobson welcomed Karen Shipley-Cooper to the meeting and she has requested to be re-instated from Member At Large.

The meeting closed stating Founder’s Day will be celebrated on April 11 at Pizza Ranch with Noid hosting.
