Liscomb Auxiliary plans spring events

LISCOMB — Liscomb Legion Auxiliary Unit 87 met at 1:30 p.m. at the Union Library on April 5. Five members present. President Sharon Hatch opened the meeting. Chaplain Dorothy Sorensen gave a devotional prayer. All recited the Pledge of Allegiance and Auxiliary Preamble, a moment of silence was observed for the MIA/POW and deceased veterans. Minutes of February meeting approved as read by secretary.

Candy Wait has received the poppy order. Hatch discussed dues increase. National went up to $18, will get notice in fall of $26 due.

Marshall County Conference held April 1 with 16 in attendance at Laurel. They are saving plastic sacks using them to make benches. Save old postage stamps, veterans make pictures with them.

• April 15 – IVH Spring Carnival

• April 21 at 10 a.m. at Iowa Veterans Home Copper Kettle auxiliary ladies making poppies, lunch at IVH provided.

• May 11 – IVH Gardening Box planting

New Marshall County officers were installed at County meeting. President: Stacy Bane; V.P.: Laurel Degelau; Secretary: Wait and Treasurer: Jane Linnenbrink.

Need more volunteers for IVH. County meeting voted to buy two new flag poles.

The Unit is hosting the Fall Marshall County Conference on Sept. 16 at the Liscomb Community Center. May make a hat and decorate for meeting. Vickie will reserve building. Wait and Hatch took Easter rabbit cups with candy over to Conrad Assisted Living, Hatch made 20.

Next meeting will be May 3 at the home of Vickie Penner in Liscomb at 1:30 p.m.

Hatch sent six felt poppies up to Parkersburg Auxiliary. She read “All I Need to Know I Learned From the Easter Bunny.”

Sorensen read “When Spring Came Knocking.’ Chaplain gave closing prayer. Toni motioned to adjourn.
