CONTRIBUTED PHOTO

The Marshalltown Elks Lodge #312 gave the Marshalltown Police Department & Fire Department survival bags for homeless. The Elks Outreach Project for homeless has survival bags that include: sleeping bag, pillow, toothbrush, toothpaste, brush/comb, can opener, backpack, gloves, socks. Pictured Jacob Patterson, Austin White (both from Fire Department) Cheryl Jost-Kelley, (Exalted Ruler), Sharon Swope (Committee Chairman), Officer Chad Hillers & Mark Doland (both from Police Department). The Lodge received the Beacon Grant to get this project started. The Members of the Lodge have bags available at the Lodge for homeless utilizing referral letters from other organizations. The Police Department & Fire Department come across homeless during late nights when the Lodge isn’t open, so we gave them bags & referral letters to help the homeless.
