KidSight program at Evening Lions

CONTRIBUTED PHOTO

Debi Estabrook, Iowa KidSight chairperson for the Marshalltown Evening Lions, gave a presentation on how to use one of the cameras to take pictures of children, 6-months-old up to six years, last Wednesday at the club’s May meeting. Estabrook, with her helpers last fall, sent pictures to opthamologists in Iowa City, looking for early eye problems in children. In all, 811 children were tested, with 59 retakes given. From those pictures, 38 children were referred to local eye doctors to get further eye exams. She also had members test the two cameras on each other and sign up to help with the KidSight program in Marshall County. Iowa Chevron awards for years of service were also given by past Iowa Council Chairperson, Judy Stone. Recipients were: Ronald Hersom-55 years, Wally Paige-45 years, Keith Noack-40 years and current Evening Lions President Bill Peden-10 years.
