Tuesday Musical honors 50-year members

CONTRIBUTED PHOTO Cindy Mack, Colette Benge and Donnis Greer (not pictured) were honored for 50 years of membership in the Tuesday Musical Club.

Three members of the Tuesday Musical Club were recognized and celebrated for 50 years of membership at the annual meeting on May 14, at the home of Karen Engesser. Colette Benge, Donnis Greer and Cindy Mack all became members of the Tuesday Musical Club in 1974, and have maintained membership and involvement since that time.

Club President Christine Norman Hall presented each honoree with a personalized memory book of photos of various performances and activities in the club through the years. In addition, club members wrote personal messages to each of the three honorees, which were gathered together into memory books for each of them to keep. Although Greer was not able to be present at the meeting, Benge and Mack reminisced about special memories they had as members of the club, and expressed appreciation to the members for the recognition.

Preceding the 50-year membership celebration, the club conducted its annual meeting. Officers and committee chairpersons read and submitted written reports of the activities during the 2023-24 club year, and the members elected officers for the coming year.

The following members will serve as club leaders for the 2024-25 program year: President — Deborah Nuss; Vice President — Pat Kirner; Secretary – Valerie Sondag; Treasurer — Engesser; President Ex-Officio – Norman Hall. Appreciation was expressed to Norman Hall for her leadership during the past two years, and she thanked the officers, committee chairpersons and members for their support of the club. Norman Hall noted especially the involvement of four new members who joined this year: Betsy Buck, Mary Cowdrey, Mary Kurth and Sondag.

Following the meeting, refreshments were served by hostess Engesser, and co-hostesses Jeanne Christensen, Nuss and Elisabeth Bieber.

The Tuesday Musical Club was organized in June of 1891, with the objectives of developing the musical appreciation of members, and stimulating musical interest in the Marshalltown community. Membership is by invitation.

Starting at $4.38/week.
