100 Women Who Care to meet April 24

The Marshalltown philanthropic group 100 Women Who Care voted at its last meeting to donate to the Homelessness Task Force. The $14,500 donation has been used to help individuals and families with rental assistance, rental deposits and hotel accommodations for fire victims, according to Kendra Sorenson and Jasmin Banderas, co chairs of the task force. The project was nominated by 100 Women member Sarah Rosenblum, who serves on the Discretionary Committee of the task force. Rosenblum, library director of the Marshalltown Public Library presented the donation to Sorenson, executive director of the Marshalltown United Way. The 100 Women Who Care organization is open to any woman in the Marshalltown area. The next meeting will be at 5:30 p.m. on April 24 at Midnight Garden, 1501 S. 17th Ave., in Marshalltown. The meetings are upbeat and fun with members staying for dinner and socializing; the meeting lasts only one hour and is finished promptly at 6:30 p.m.
