P.E.O. Chapter JU-LT hears about Emergency Food Box

Cindy Staron spoke to P.E.O. Chapter JU-LT about the Emergency Food Box which has been operating for 40 years for Marshall County residents. The current address is 107 N. First St., for those in need to come once a month for balanced diet needs based on non-discriminatory guidelines. Food items can be donated as well as volunteering to help.

Ann Isgrig, co-president, presided during the 1 p.m. meeting on April 7 at the Trinity Lutheran Church with 27 members attending. Sharon Jensen gave the report on the JU-LT local scholarship application due April 18 with the two women selected to receive $500 at the May 30 Marshalltown High School Awards Night. Dee Burt reported on the Scholar Award for a doctoral college student which takes about 5 years. Ann Bresler reported that in 2023 Chapter JU gave the Iowa P.E.O. Project $5,000 to a local student who immigrated from Haiti which has completed her CNA and is employed by a local care facility.

The next Chapter meeting will be at 1 p.m. on May 5 at Glenwood Place with the program Mother’s Day.
