CBD Lekin presents program at Spinning Wheel

CONTRIBUTED PHOTO Central Business District Director Danielle Lekin presented a program on the downtown area to the Spinning Wheel Chapter.

The Spinning Wheel Chapter National Society Daughters of American Revolution met Oct. 18 at the Embers. There were 10 members and two guests present.

Executive Director Danielle Lekin from the Central Business District gave the program about what’s happening in downtown Marshalltown. She said there are five new businesses opening this fall, the band shell will be refurbished and an Event Plaza will be built in front of the Court House.

Regent Emilee Freiberg opened the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance and the American’s Creed. Chaplin Michelle Ankrum gave the opening prayer. Monthly reports were presented. A discussion was held as to when to put up the memorial plaque for Marlys Ankrum and Barb Wacha. Discussion was also held as to where to rehang the DAR plaque for Henry Anson’s first home that used to be on Main Street.

Hostess for the meeting was Mary Thomas. The next meeting will be at 9 a.m. on Nov. 15 at the Embers. Hostesses will be Cathy Hanson and Ann Heying.
