The Optimist Club of Marshalltown heard from guest speaker Julie Hitchins, executive director of the Community Foundation of Marshall County, at the Jan. 29 meeting at Legends. Hitchins clarified that each Iowa county has a Community Foundation under the umbrella of the Community Foundation of Greater Des Moines. The CFMC also partners with the Martha Ellen Tye Foundation as a financial supporter to help fulfill the motto, “Better Together, Better Forever, Better Marshall County.” Hitchins is pictured at left with Optimist Club President Pat Peden as the attendees recite the Optimist Creed.
