"It's exciting to see how God is working in Sierra Leone," said Bandstra, as she described how her father, Mark Boland, had traveled on a missionary journey to Sierra Leone, West Africa some time ago. His trip led to the founding of My Kinsmen Ministries in 2010 with an established mission of "Equipping the people of Sierra Leone with educational, financial, physical and spiritual tools needed to cultivate life and glorify God as they spread His kingdom." Bandstra presented a slideshow of photos implementing the effective ministry process of Sierra Leoneans helping and ministering to others.
The meeting was held at the MACC, and Chaplin Pro Tem Evelyn Hobson shared wisdom from the book titled "More Than a Carpenter" along with the scripture from Luke 4:16-21 as Jesus read from the scroll "The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor."
Marilyn Downs presented information on the P.E.O. Star Scholarship which is a meaningful way to invest in the future of young women in the community and Judy Dale spoke on the P.E.O. Scholar Awards program which awards up to $25,000 to women enrolled in doctoral-level study.
Refreshments were served by hostess and tea committee members Ellen Youds, Cherryl Woltjer and Rhonda Miller. The next meeting will be held at the Grimes Farm and Conservation Center on Sept. 21.
