The Sept. 21 meeting of P.E.O. Chapter MJ was held at 7 p.m. at the Binford House. Featured speaker was Amber Danielson of the Arts and Cultural Alliance. Danielson shared a slide presentation showing the progress Marshalltown has made in showcasing art and cultural projects like murals, pocket parks and creative place making areas since the tornado and derecho. Future public art transitions will be a pocket park and Main Street Alleyway plus additional Tiny Art Works.
The regular business meeting was conducted by President Beth Currie. Bonnie Lowry and Kristin Meyer served a co-hostesses.
Mary Giese announced the winner of the August "Tailgate Fundraiser for Projects." Winner, Barb McBride, received a gift certificate to her favorite college bookstore. McBride's guess was the closest to the combined score of the Iowa vs. Iowa State football game played Sept. 12. All funds raised will be contributed to P.E.O. Projects.
The next regular meeting will be at 7 p.m. on Oct. 5 at Hope United Methodist Church.
