The Ave Maria Study Club held its first meeting for 2026-27 on Sept. 11 at The Madonna Room in the Faith Formation Building on the St. Henry Campus. Co-President Lois Polt welcomed 13 members and one guest. Polt pointed out that it is the 25th anniversary of that tragic day, Sept. 11, 2001. We remembered the day by beginning the meeting by reciting the Pledge of Allegiance. The occasion was celebrated with red, white and blue table decorations and included American Flags. Polt introduced everyone present. The before meal prayer was prayed. Everyone enjoyed a salad luncheon provided by the members. The officers, Polt, Rose Ann Jero, Kathy Slater and Marj Higgins served as hostesses.
The Rosary was then prayed led by co-presidents Polt and Jero.
The program for the meeting was on the Seven Sisters Apostolate. The program was introduced by Jero. The Seven Sisters is a group of seven women who pray each day for a parish priest. Carol Johnson, the local Anchoress of Seven Sisters, shared how she became involved and answered the groups questions. The members offered a Happy Birthday Prayer for members with September birthdays: Dianne Maile, Edith Podhajsky and Slater.
Jero shared information on Dominican Friers being blessed by a large number of men joining them.
Polt called the business meeting to order. Slater read the minutes. They were approved as read. Polt noted the nice attendance by the Ave Maria members at the 4:30 Mass on June 6. Higgins gave the treasurer's report. She is collecting the $10 dues for the year.
Polt reviewed the program booklet for the coming year. A telephone calling tree has been added this year.
The meeting closed with "Faith Prayer" and "Prayer For Our Nation."
Polt thanked everyone for attending. The next meeting is 1 p.m. on Oct. 9 in the Madonna Room.
