Beta Sigma Phi discusses International Chapter

By Times-Republican 2 min read

Beta Sigma Phi, Sigma Master Chapter met for lunch at Pizza Ranch on Oct. 13. President Dorothy Perry opened the meeting thanking Jan Keller and Jackie Fiscus hosting, decorating the tables with a cute pumpkins full of candy and a Scratch ticket to boot. Eight members answered roll call with “Who do you want to win the World Series?” I think Brewers won! Only one member was absent.

Health reports were given with good recovery from knee surgery for one, and others just keep going “Day by Day,” enjoying life. Alice Nicholson read the minutes of the last meeting, and Barb Noid gave the Treasurer’s report with all dues paid.

Perry thanked those who attended the funeral for Member-at-Large Romaine Mackaman in Marshalltown on Oct. 3. A floral yellow rose was given in sympathy. Also, Member-at-Large Elizabeth Wood’s funeral will be Nov. 9 at Anderson Funeral Home. A sympathy card was signed by all to be sent to the brother of Gary Bumsted, whose mother was a member of the chapter until she was 100.

Keller gave information about the office of Beta Sigma Phi International closing in June of this year, as Nicholson stated her letter was returned with no forwarding address. The Chapter will continue doing exactly as it has been, however, we would appreciate getting information from the Iowa Chapters regarding State convention, etc. The Chapter recently received “Christmas Kick-off” from Wings of Refuge in Ames on Nov. 12 with whom it has contributed in the past with the Service Project.

The meeting closed announcing the next meeting will be Nov. 10 with Karen Shipley-Cooper hosting.
