Chapter JU-LT hears about data centers

By Times-Republican 1 min read

Projections for a 150,000 square ft data center building to house a private, unrevealed business is being considered as a $350M capital investment in building and equipment. Presented as economic development "a data center in Marshalltown will help stabilize energy bills over the long haul, and generate $3M per year in property taxes," said Mike Schlesinger. The Edgewood Drive location being considered will be the decision of the Marshalltown City Council.

During the chapter business meeting, Treasurer Christin Hobson reminded members of the upcoming chapter dues deadline and the very silent auction to be held in November.

On behalf of the chapter, member Joann Neven sent a 100th birthday card to former member Mary Lou Wheeler, now residing in Ames.

Rhonda Miller thanked Binford House luncheon hostesses Sharon Jensen, Christin Hobson and Evelyn Hobson and announced that the next meeting will be at the MACC facility (formerly the Fisher Community Center) and chapter members will tour the newly restored Martha Ellen Tye Playhouse.
