PEO members celebrated at meeting

P.E.O. Milestone Members Jane Bauer, Elaine Graeff and Jackie Hughes were celebrated at Chapter BB’s business meeting on Sept. 20. Bauer has been a member for 50 years, and Graeff and Hughes are 40-year members. Members were brought up to date about their involvement in Ryan’s Case for Smiles. This is a nationwide program where whimsical pillowcases are made and given to childhood cancer patients for use in their hospital rooms. Council of Catholic Women seeks ways to attract youth

The St. Francis of Assisi Parish Council of Catholic Women (CCW) meeting was held Sept. 2 to elect and install officers for the coming year. President Lois Polt welcomed the 30 women present. Minutes and Treasurer’s reports were read and approved. Motion made, seconded and approved to stop paying the pest control bill from the CCW budget and have it revert back to the St. Francis office. Gladbrook Auxiliary discuss topics

The Gladbrook Legion Auxiliary met on Sept. 13 as President Jeanne Paustian held her annual Program Planning Session with officers, committee chairman and members present to get the 2021-22 year started. Dues were collected and a light meal was served. The meeting was opened in form with Katie Bauer and Marilyn Carstensen posting the flags with Sue Koster at the piano. Chapter MJ Celebrates 50 Years

Members of PEO Chapter MJ gathered for a social meeting on Monday, August 16 at 7:00 p.m. at the Gallery Garden on Main in downtown Marshalltown. Their purpose was to celebrate 50 years of becoming a chapter of PEO. Many memories were shared by fellow Chapter MJ sisters. Barb Runneals, one of the original 14 Charter Members, told of her part in forming the new chapter. She also reminisced about the other Charter Member sisters and where they are now. Marshalltown. Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 839 reviewed and acted on the program of activities during Tuesday’s August meeting, including plans for hosting another public fundraiser tenderloin meal on Friday, Aug. 27.
