Twenty-one county health departments turned down their state COVID-19 vaccine allocations this week, the state health director said. People older than the age of 18 who would like to receive the COVID-19 vaccine are encouraged to self-schedule an appointment with UnityPoint Health – Marshalltown at www.uph.link/wat0ir. If individuals would prefer to call, they can reach the call center at 319-226-2601 during daytime business hours. Appointments are available 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. but vary by day. People will receive the Moderna vaccine, which consists of two shots. Follow-up injections will be scheduled when the first dose is administered.
