Man gave police another man’s name
A Marshalltown man is charged with a felony after police found out he used another man’s name when he was arrested for drunk driving.
Thy Krouch, 43, was arrested Sunday, after the victim came to the police department and said his name had been used and he was wrongly charged with the crime.
Capt. Mike Hanken, with the Marshalltown Police Department, said the arresting officer went to Krouch’s house at 2552 Smith Ave. Lot 66 and verified his real name.
Krouch was charged with identity theft, a Class D felony and providing false identity.
Woman punches another woman’s nose
A woman was sent to the hospital after a local woman allegedly punched her.
April Stanley, 33, was arrested Sunday, for the alleged assault that happened Tom’s Cue & Brew, 803 E. Main St., earlier in the week.
According to police, the victim had a bloody nose and told police she had been assaulted by Stanley after an argument between the two.
After later interviewing Stanley, she was taken to jail and charged with serious assault.
The victim was treated for a minor injury.
Man breaks into house
A Marshalltown man landed a felony after police found items stolen from a local home inside his house.
Paul Hopkins, 22, allegedly broke into a house on the 300 block of North Second Street, July 24 and stole several items from the home.
Capt. Mike Hanken, with the Marshalltown Police Department, said the resident of the house said five guitars, two amplifiers, a tuner and sidebar, DVDs, a DVD player, checkbook and car keys were taken from the house.
After an investigation began, police received information that Hopkins was a suspect. A search warrant was executed at his house and the stolen items were found there, Hanken said.
Police also found a small amount of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
During the arrest Hopkins was in jail on charges of possession of meth with the intent to deliver and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Hopkins was charged with second-degree theft, a Class D felony, possession of meth, possession of drug paraphernalia and ongoing criminal conduct.
He is being held in the Marshall County Jail on a $100,000 cash only bond.
Couple charged with indecent exposure
A Marshalltown man and woman allegedly had sex in a mini-van with its doors open in front of an apartment complex.
Debra Diener, 56 and Youness Derbal, 39, were arrested after 1 a.m. Sunday, in the parking lot of the apartments at 112 N. Third St., after police met with the victim who witnessed the activity.
According to police, the van door was wide open and facing directly into the window of a small child’s bedroom.
Diener was charged with indecent exposure, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Derbal was charged with indecent exposure.

He pleaded not guilty and a Rocket Docket pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9 a.m. on Sept. 26 in Magistrate Court. Bond will continue as posted until the conclusion of this case.
Rosalva Calderon Perez, 912 W. State St., made an initial appearance through an interpreter on a fraudulent application for an Iowa I.D. card charge. On Monday, Gregory S. Sharp, 606 W. Church St., reported damage to a driver’s side window on a vehicle while parked at his residence. Estimated value of damage was $475.
On Monday, Pedro Gonzales, 108 N. 14th Ave., reported hit and run damage to the driver’s side front quarter panel and headlight assembly on a Chevy Impala while parked in front of his house. Estimated value of damage was $1,500.
On Monday, Jonathan Robert Sydney Ford, of Pleasant Hill, reported the theft of a HTC cell phone while at 800 Noble St. Estimated value of loss was $100.
On Friday, Linda Pearl Burke, of Liscomb, reported the theft of a check, a gift card and cash from her purse while shopping at Walmart. Estimated value of loss was $225.74.

Accidents
On Aug. 12, a minivan driven by Manuel Rivera, 914 S. Ninth Ave., was exiting a parking spot in front of Abarrotes La Salud, 17 N. First St., when it collided with the front passenger side quarter panel of a car driven by Marichal Hill, of Bartlett, Tenn., which was traveling north on First Street. No injuries were reported. Rivera was cited for failure to have a valid driver’s license and leaving the scene of an accident-damage to vehicle only. Damage to the Rivera minivan was estimated at $1,000 while the Hill car received an estimated $3,000 in damage.
