• Richard Derek Wolf, of Tama, made an initial appearance on a theft-third degree-enhanced charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on March 31. Wolf was released on his promise to appear.
• Oracio Macias made an initial appearance on a possession of marijuana charge and a possession of drug paraphernalia charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on March 31. Macias was released on his promise to appear. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days.
• Jose Martin Chavarria Jr. made an initial appearance on a possession of drug paraphernalia charge. A pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9 a.m. on April 12 in Magistrate Court.
• Shelby Peak made an initial appearance on a contempt of court-non payment charge. The contempt hearing is scheduled at 9 a.m. on April 3 in Magistrate Court.
• Scott William Slocum Jr. made an initial appearance on a dogs at large charge. He pleaded guilty and the fine is $25 with a $8.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $93.75, due within 30 days.

Accidents
• On Thursday, March 2, a car driven by Tha Tin Hnem Buan, of Marshalltown, was attempting to park in a spot in the JBS parking lot when it struck a legally parked Toyota Camry. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Buan car was estimated at $2,000 while the Toyota Camry sustained an estimated $1,000 in damage.
• On Sunday, March 5, a car driven by Beverly Ann Risius, of Marshalltown, was southbound on Highway 14 when it missed the turn into the Emergency Room at Central Iowa Healthcare and executed a u-turn crossing both northbound lanes and colliding with a police vehicle on an emergency call. No injuries were reported. Damage to both vehicles was estimated at $5,000 each.
• On Sunday, a car driven by De Lu, of Marshalltown, was traveling over the Third Street viaduct on the snow-covered roadway when it went out of control and struck the railing on the east side of the viaduct causing disabling damage. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Lu car was estimated at $2,500.

• On Saturday, Amanda Jacquelyn Collins was arrested on a warrant.
Accidents
• On Wednesday, a vehicle driven by Vladimir Mijatovic, of Ankeny, was northbound on Highway 330 when it struck a deer that entered the roadway from the median. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Mijatovic vehicle was estimated at $4,000.
