Accidents

• On Wednesday, April 12, a vehicle driven by Britnee Anne Konicek, of Marshalltown, was southbound on South Third Avenue when it continued forward through a light change and collided with a vehicle driven by Annie D. Miggins, of Marshalltown, which was eastbound on Linn Street. No injuries were reported. Konicek was cited for failure to obey a traffic control device. Damage to both vehicles was estimated at $2,500 each.

• On Monday, April 24, a car driven by Linda Lou Lampert, of Marshalltown, was northbound on North First Street when it proceeded into the intersection with Lincoln Street and collided with a Jeep driven by Marissa Ashley Flohrs, of Marshalltown, then continued north, turned around and returned to the intersection and struck the Flohrs Jeep a second time causing it to spin. An infant girl was transported to Unity Point Health-Marshalltown. Damage to the Lampert car was estimated at $2,000 while the Flohrs Jeep received an estimated $6,000.

• On Thursday, a pickup driven by Patrick Shane Hutchison, of South Haven, Mich., was driving northbound between storage buildings at Country Properties Storage when his pickup struck a yellow pole as it was turning the corner of a building. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Hutchison pickup was estimated at $1,500.

• On Thursday, a pickup driven by Santiago Zambrano, of Chelsea, was westbound on West Boone Street when it drifted over the center line and collided head-on with a car driven by Teresa Lynne Paul, of Rhodes, which was eastbound on Boone Street. No injuries were reported. Zambrano was cited for no valid driver’s license and failure to yield half the roadway. Damage to both vehicles was estimated at $4,000 each.

• On Friday, a vehicle driven by Cynthia Rae Hintze, of Marshalltown, was southbound on South Ninth Street when it proceeded forward into the intersection resulting in a collision with a minivan driven by Beverly Sharon Oxley, of Rhodes. No injuries were reported. Hintze was cited for entering stop or yield intersection. Damage to the Hintze vehicle was estimated at $5,000 while the Oxley minivan received an estimated $2,000 in damage.

• On Friday, a vehicle driven by Karen Kae Kolbe, of Marshalltown, was eastbound on West Main Street in the 1500 block when it struck a legally parked Toyota. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Kolbe vehicle was estimated at $3,000 while the Toyota received an estimated $7,500 in damage.

• On Sunday, April 30, Kevin Joe Switzer was cited for following too close and no insurance-accident.

• On Friday, April 28, Ulysses Adan Esquivel Vallejo was cited for no valid driver’s license and fraudulent use of a registration.

• Krystian William Gonzalez made an initial appearance on a sex abuse-third degree charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on May 11. Bond is set at $10,000 cash or surety. A no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

• Ryan Heath Chaplin made an initial appearance on a violation of a no-contact order/contempt of court charge. Jennifer Bonzer is appointed as counsel. The contempt hearing is scheduled at 2 p.m. on May 11. Bond is set at $1,000 cash or surety. If he owns or possesses any firearms or ammunition, Chaplin is to contact the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office within 24 hours to make arrangements to surrender them. A new no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

• Ruben Hickman made an initial appearance on a violation of a no-contact order/contempt of court charge. Christian Stickrod is appointed as counsel. The contempt hearing will be scheduled by the Magistrate Court. Bond is set at $1,000 cash or surety. A new no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

• Jeremy Ian Roberts made an initial appearance on two warrants: one charging him with two counts of violation of a no-contact order/contempt of court and the other for failure to appear for an arraignment hearing. Jeff Hazen is appointed as counsel. The arraignment hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on May 11 and the contempt hearing will be heard at the same time. Bond is set at $4,000 cash only for all charges. If he owns or possesses any firearms or ammunition, Roberts is to contact the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office within 24 hours to make arrangements to surrender them. A new no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

• Heather Bell, of Liscomb, made an initial appearance on a warrant charging her with failure to appear for trial in two cases and on a probation violation charge. Jenny Wilson-Moore is appointed as counsel. The trial is scheduled at 9 a.m. on May 18 with a pre-trial conference scheduled at 1:30 p.m. on May 12. The probation revocation hearing is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on May 8. Bond is set at $4,000 cash only on the two trial cases. Bell is being held without bond on the probation revocation.

• Devonte Veshonne Stewart made an initial appearance on a warrant charging him with failure to file an arraignment and on a charge of operation without the owners consent. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on May 11 on the operation without owner’s consent. The arraignment hearing is rescheduled at the same time. Bond is set at $4,000 cash or surety.

• Fernando Castaneda, of Cedar Rapids, made an initial appearance on warrant charging him with failure to appear for pre-trial conference in Magistrate Court on a driving under suspension and loud noises charges. The rocket docket pre-trial conference is rescheduled at 9 a.m. on May 12 in Magistrate Court. Castaneda was released on his promise to appear.

• Kevin Joe Switzer, of Liscomb, made an initial appearance on a operating while intoxicated-first offense charge, a following too closely charge and a no insurance-accident charge. Switzer will hire his own counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on May 19. Switzer was released on his promise to appear. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted within 60 days to the court.

• Lori Warden made an initial appearance on a probation violation charge. Chad Frese is appointed as counsel. The probation revocation hearing is scheduled at 9 a.m. on May 23. Bond is set at $5,000 cash or surety.

• Rosa Icela Gonzalez made an initial appearance through a Spanish interpreter on an assault on a peace officer charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on May 19. Bond will continue as posted until the conclusion of this case.

• Jolene Davenport made an initial appearance on a possession of marijuana-first offense charge, a possession of drug paraphernalia charge, a no insurance charge and a speeding charge. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on May 19. Davenport was released on her promise to appear. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted within 60 days to the court.

The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on May 19. Bond will continue as posted until the conclusion of this case. • Brittney Ann Hansen made an initial appearance on a theft-fifth degree charge. Darrell Meyer is appointed as counsel. The pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9 a.m. on June 14.

• Ashley Marie Martinez made an initial appearance on a dog at large charge. A guilty plea was entered and the fine is $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $147.75, due within 30 days.

• Sean Eric Turnbull made an initial appearance on a trespass charge. He pleaded guilty and the fine is $100 with a $35 surcharge, a $125 law enforcement initiative surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $272.75, due within 30 days.
