• Hassan Hussein Wright Jr. made an initial appearance on a burglary-third degree charge, a possession of a controlled substance-first offense charge, an unlawful possession of prescription drugs charge and a spitting in a police vehicle charge. Jennifer Bonzer was appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Sept. 22. Bond is set at $2,000 cash or surety. Upon release Wright will have 60 days to obtain a substance abuse evaluation and submit the results to the court.

• Jody Elain Gasca made an initial appearance on a operating while intoxicated-second offense charge, an interlock device violation charge, a leaving the scene of an accident charge, a driving under suspension charge, a failure to maintain control charge, a careless driving charge, a towing an unsafe vehicle charge, a no insurance-accident charge, a defective tires charge, a insufficient number of headlamps charge and a restricted license violation charge. Jeff Hazen was appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Sept. 27. Bond is set at $2,000 cash or surety. Upon release Gasca will have 60 days to obtain a substance abuse evaluation and submit the results to the court.

• Janice Gonzalez made an initial appearance on three counts of a child endangerment charge and an assault causing bodily injury charge. Jennie Wilson-Moore was appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Oct. 6. Bond will continue as posted until the conclusion of this case. Four no-contact orders have been issued for the protected parties.

• Maria del Carmen Romero Davilla made an initial appearance on a failure to stop in a clear, assured distance charge. Romero Davilla pleaded guilty and the fine is $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $147.75, due within 30 days.

• Casey Thurston made an initial appearance on a no valid driver’s license charge and a speeding charge. He pleaded not guilty. A pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on Oct. 18 in Magistrate Court. Bond will continue as posted until the conclusion of this case.

• Ray Rauch Jr. made an initial appearance on a failure to appear for an arraignment charge. Marshon Dubbert will continue as counsel. The arraignment hearing is rescheduled at 1 p.m. on Oct. 2.

• Baxter Easton made an initial appearance on a unsafe passing charge. He pleaded not guilty. A pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on Oct. 18 in Magistrate Court.

• Casey McMahon made an initial appearance on a theft-fifth degree charge. He pleaded not guilty. McMahon will hire his own counsel. A pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9 a.m. on Oct. 18 in Magistrate Court. Bond will continue as posted until the conclusion of this case.

• On Saturday, vandalism was reported at the corner of Second Street and Main Street.

• On Sunday, hit and run damage was reported in the 1600 block of West Olive Street.

• On Monday, a motor vehicle was burglarized in the 400 block of West Nevada Street.

• On Sunday, Jody Elain Gasca, 42, was arrested for operation without interlock device, defective tires, driving or towing an unsafe vehicle, driving under suspension, no insurance-accident, failure to maintain control, operating while under the influence-second offense, careless driving, violations of a restricted license, insufficient number of headlamps and leaving the scene of a accident.

• On Sunday, Juan Carlos Velazco Jr., 25, was arrested for two counts of driving while license is denied or revoked.

• On Sunday, Jeremy Arthur Tuttle, 35, was arrested for improper or unsafe turn at an intersection, operating while under the influence-third or subsequent offense and driving while license is denied.

• On Monday, Joshua Joe Sprague, 40, was arrested for driving while license is denied, cancelled, revoked or suspended.

Accidents

• On Monday, Sept. 18, a car driven by Jody Elain Gasca, 42, of Marshalltown, was eastbound in the 800 block of West Linn Street when she lost control of her car and sideswiped a legally parked Ford Flex and then left the scene. No injuries were reported. Gasca was cited for leaving the scene of an accident, failure to maintain control, careless driving and driving under suspension. Damage to the Gasca car was estimated at $10,000 while the Ford Flex received an estimated $15,000 in damage.

• On Sunday, Sept. 17, a pickup driven by Judith Elizabeth Vry, 73, of Encinitas, Calif., was southbound on South Center Street attempting a left turn onto Berle Road when it crossed in front of a car driven by Aaron Matthew Perry, 19, of Marshalltown, resulting in a collision. No injuries were reported. Vry was cited for failure to yield upon a left turn. Damage to the Vry pickup was estimated at $5,000 while the Perry car received an estimated $10,000 in damage.

• On Saturday, Sept. 16, a car driven by Dillon Lee Collins, 22, was northbound on Seventh Avenue when it sideswiped a minivan which was illegally parked on the east side of the street. No injuries were reported. Damage to the minivan was estimated at $1,500 while the Collins car received an estimated $300 in damage.

• On Friday, Kayla Heatherington, 26, was arrested for trespass, theft-third degree and theft-fourth degree.

• On Friday, Joshua Studdard, 31, was arrested for contempt of court/violation of a no-contact order.

• On Friday, Glenn Eielson, 61, was arrested for operating while under the influence-first offense.

• On Saturday, Ronny Matney, 47, was arrested for operating while under the influence-first offense, possession of a controlled substance and public intoxication-first offense.
