Friday

• Terrance Lee Bragg, of Des Moines, made an initial appearance on a public intoxication charge. Bragg pleaded guilty and the fine is $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $147.75, due within 30 days.

• Alan Gutierrez Cantu made an initial appearance on a drag racing charge. Cantu pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on May 1 in Magistrate Court.

• Anne Katherine Ford made an initial appearance on an interference with official acts charge and a disorderly conduct charge. Jeff Hazen is appointed as counsel. A pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on April 10 in Magistrate Court.

• James Mark Gummert made an initial appearance on a public intoxication charge. Gummert pleaded guilty and the fine is $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $147.75, due within 30 days.

• Shane Charlton made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge, a no insurance-accident charge, an operation without registration charge and a unsafe starting of a stopped vehicle charge. Charlton pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on April 24 in Magistrate Court.

• Ronald Wayne Gohring made an initial appearance on a possession of drug paraphernalia charge. Gohring pleaded not guilty. A pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on April 10 in Magistrate Court.

Accidents

• On Friday, a minivan driven by Michael Barry Carman, 63, of Liscomb, was northbound on Highway 14 in the outside lane when it swerved to miss a pedestrian walking in the roadway and struck the pedestrian with the side mirror. The female pedestrian was transported to UnityPoint Health-Marshalltown. Damage to the Carman mirror was estimated at $200.

• On Thursday, a car driven by Frieda Gerke, 91, of Marshalltown, was turning north onto Second Avenue when it struck a female pedestrian. The pedestrian was transported to UnityPoint Health-Marshalltown by ambulance.

• On Thursday, a car driven by Dietta Kay Little, 73, of Marshalltown, was pulling up to the Hy-Vee Gas Station when it drove over the curb and struck the ice cooler then backed up and parked before going inside and making a purchase. Little then came out and drove away without reporting the accident. Little was cited for leaving the scene of an accident-property damage and no insurance-accident. Damage to the Hy-Vee ice cooler was estimated at $2,200 while the Little car received an estimated $2,000 in damage.

• On Sunday, a vehicle driven by Donavan Elvie Perdue, 18, of Marshalltown, was northbound on North First Avenue when it pulled into a private driveway to turn around and head south. When Perdue exited the driveway it collided with a pickup driven by Angel J. Nunez-Corona, 50, of Marshalltown, which was traveling north on First Avenue. No injuries were reported. Perdue was cited for failure to yield upon entering a through highway. Damage to the Perdue vehicle was estimated at $1,000 while the Nunez-Corona pickup received an estimated $600 in damage.

Incidents

• On Sunday, a case of arson to a vehicle was reported to the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office.

Accidents

• On Wednesday, a Jeep driven by Ophelia Carter, 58, of Waterloo, was westbound on Highway 96, driving too fast for the foggy conditions, ws unable to stop at the T-intersection with Highway 14 crossing the roadway, crashing through a snowbank and driving into a field where it encountered a larger snowbank that stopped the vehicle. A female passenger was transported to UnityPoint health-Marshalltown by ambulance. Carter was cited for failure to maintain control. Damage to the Carter Jeep was estimated at $3,000 while yard and grass damage was estimated at $200.

• On Tuesday, a car driven by Lane Douglas Vanderhart, 22, of Gladbrook, was eastbound on East Main Street Road when it struck a deer that entered the roadway. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Vanderhart car was estimated at $2,000.

March 10

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a detector activation-no fire-unintentional at 2315 Campbell Drive, a gas leak at 1021 S. Fifth Ave. and six medical assists with the EMS crew to: 608 Roberts Terrace, 206 S. Third Ave., 218 Pleasantview Road, 302 N. Fifth St., 312 W. Main St. and 408 W. Meadow Lane.

March 9

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to an EMS call excluding vehicle accident with injury at 511 N. 12th Ave. and three medical assists with the EMS crew to: 216 N. Second Ave., 111 N. Seventh St. and 1 Palmer St.

March 8

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to seven medical assists with the EMS crew to: 109 N. Third St., 620 Union St., 220 Glenda Drive, 2401 S. Second St., 202 S. Third Ave., 408 N. Second St., 110 E. Webster St.

March 7

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to seven medical assists with the EMS crew to: 403 E. Southridge Road, 310 N. First Ave., 1008 E. State St., 1211 W. State St., 1500 Lincoln Tower Circle, 2801 Nelson Road and 503 N. Third St.

March 6

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a removal of victims from a stalled elevator at 2 N. Second Ave. and 10 medical assists with the EMS crew to: 312 W. Nevada St., 1703 Edgebrook Drive, two at 202 N. Second Ave., 1701 W. State St., 405 W. Boone St., 505 Edgebrook Court, 1516 E. Olive St., 301 Sharon Ave. and 1703 Edgebrook Drive.

March 5

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a dispatched/cancelled en route to 408 W. High St. and five medical assists with the EMS crew to: 404 Melody Lane, 202 N. Second Ave., 104 N. Sixth St., 1008 E. State St. and 9 E. Webster St.
