Friday

• Deandre Antonio Davis made an initial appearance on two counts of a probation violation charge. Aron Vaughn was appointed as counsel. The probation revocation hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on May 20. Davis is being held without bond.

• Lar Bwe made an initial appearance through a Karen interpreter on a theft-first degree charge. Christian Stickrod is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on May 20. Bond is set at $10,000 cash or surety.

• Casey James Thurston, of Garwin, made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge. Thurston pleaded guilty and the fine is $250 with a $87.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $397.50, due within 30 days.

• Anthony Bryant Weatherly made an initial appearance on a operating while under the influence-first offense charge. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on May 30. Weatherly was released on his promise to appear. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days.

• Alissa Marie Harding made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge and a seat belt violation charge. Harding pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on June 19 in Magistrate Court.

• Angel Manuel Maldonado, of Toledo, made an initial appearance on a domestic abuse assault charge. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on May 30. Maldonado is released on his promise to appear. A no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

• Sean Eric Turnbull made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge, a defective tires charge, a registration violation charge and a no insurance charge. Turnbull pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on June 19 in Magistrate Court.

• Miguel angel Ordaz Ochoa failed to make an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge. The court found Ordaz Ochoa in default and fined him $250 with a $87.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $397.50, due within 30 days.

Accidents

• On Wednesday, a pickup driven by Joshua James Weigelt, 40, of State Center, was eastbound on Highway 30 when he entered Exit 181 and was struck in the rear driver’s side panel and bumper by a deer. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Weigelt pickup was estimated at $3,000.

• On Monday, a pickup driven by William Cory Smith, 36, of Gilmer, Texas, was leaving his residence when he struck a legally parked Malibu sitting in his driveway and then left the scene. No injuries were reported. A witness reported the incident to the police and a warrant was issued charging Smith with reckless driving and leaving the scene of an accident-property damage only. Damage to the Malibu was estimated at $2,000.

• On May 4, pickup driven by Jake Alexander Hodges, 24, of Cedar Falls, was attempting to negotiate a curve on Marsh Avenue when the driver understeered the turn and dropped off onto the shoulder where he overcorrected and lost control of the pickup entering the right ditch and rolling once before coming to a stop. No injuries were reported. Hodges was cited for failure to maintain control. Damage to the Hodges pickup was estimated at $4,000.

May 5

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a smoke detector activation-no fire-unintentional at 406 S. Sixth St., a trash or rubbish fire at 8 E. Main St., two unauthorized burnings at 3103 S. 12th St., and 308 S. 14th Ave. and five medical assists with the EMS crew to: Third Street and Nevada Street, 1101 S. Third Ave., 609 S. Seventh Ave., 921 N. Third Ave. and 114 N. Center St.

May 4

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a natural vegetation fire at 409 Sharon Ave., a building fire at 1207 Fair Meadows Road, a person in distress at 1500 Lincoln Tower Circle, a motor vehicle accident-no injuries at Second Avenue and Riverside Street and seven medical assists with the EMS crew to: 412 E. Anson St., 211 S. Third St., 3212 Lily Lane, 2315 Campbell Drive, 206 Nicholas Drive, 802 S. Center St., 2302 Knollway Drive.

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a building fire at 2001 E. Church St., a smoke scare, odor of smoke at 205 Olson Way and four medical assists with the EMS crew to: 206 Nicholas Drive, 111 N. Fourth St., 312 N. First St. and 608 E. Olive St.

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a smoke detector activation-no fire-unintentional at 811 W. State St., an unauthorized burning at 1113 Fremont St., a motor vehicle accident with no injuries at 400 S. Third Ave. and six medical assists with the EMS crew to: 107 S. First St., 1007 S. Seventh Ave., 1422 W. Linn St., 303 S. 16th Ave., 507 Lee St. and 303 S. Fourth Ave.

May 1

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a motor vehicle accident with injuries at 1509 Marion St. and seven medical assists with the EMS crew to: 116 Crestview Drive, 1612 W. Lincoln Way, 2315 Campbell Drive, 2802 S. Center St., 508 Dennis Drive, 533 N. Third St. and 1602 S. Second Ave.

April 30

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a motor vehicle, pedestrian accident at 802 S. Center St. and four medical assists with the EMS crew to: 211 S. Third St., 808 S. Ninth Ave., 513 E. Olive St. and 801 Arlington Drive.

April 29

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a motor vehicle accident with no injuries at 1100 S. Center St. and eight medical assists with the EMS crew to: 601 E. Anson St., 400 N. Fourth Ave., 402 N. 10th Ave., 303 S. 16th Ave., 206 Nicholas Drive, 1007 Fremont St., 405 W. State St. and 1 W. Grant St.
