• Robert Allen Bird Jr. made an initial appearance on a warrant charging him with lascivious acts with a minor. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on June 7. Bond is set at $1,000 cash or surety. If release is secured, then Bird is released with supervision through the Department of Correctional Services and is to report to the adult probation office within 24 hours of release to sign a pre-trial release agreement. A no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

• Jammar Dazmond Watkins made an initial appearance on a failure to appear for an initial appearance on a probation violation charge, a failure to appear for a pre-trial conference, a providing false identification information charge, a possession of marijuana-first offense charge, a failure to appear for an arraignment charge and an interference with official acts charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel for the probation violation and the marijuana charge. The probation revocation hearing will be scheduled by the District Associate Court. Bond is set at $2,000 cash or surety. Aron Vaughn will continue as counsel on the pre-trial conference case. The District Associate Court will reschedule the pre-trial conference. Bond is set at $1,000 cash or surety. The preliminary hearing on the possession of marijuana charge is set at 1 p.m. on June 7. Bond is set at $1,000 cash or surety. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days. Marshon Dubbert will continue as counsel on the arraignment case. The arraignment hearing will be rescheduled by the District Associate Court. Bond is set at $1,000 cash or surety. The false information and interference charges will continue until these other cases are resolved.

• Joshua Lee Bailey made an initial appearance on a theft-second degree charge and a driving under suspension charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on June 18. Bailey is released on his promise to appear.

• Greg Maxwell made an initial appearance on a theft-first degree charge and a neglect of a dependent person charge. Kevin O’Hare will continue as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on June 18. Maxwell is released with supervision through the Department of Correctional Services and is to report to the adult probation office within 48 hours to sign a pre-trial release agreement. A no-contact order has been issued for the protected parties.

• Lisa Marie Stochl made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge. Stochl pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on June 26 in Magistrate Court.

• Cassie Rae Eastwood made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge. Eastwood pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on June 26 in Magistrate Court.

• Francisco Javier Ortiz Perez made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge. Ortiz Perez produced his driver’s license and the case was dismissed with court costs of $60 assessed.

• Dylan Dann Schumacher made an initial appearance on a driving while barred charge and a speeding charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on June 18. Schumacher was released on his promise to appear.

• Salvador Emanuel Yanez Gonzalez made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge, a no insurance-accident charge, a speeding charge, a failure to maintain control charge and a failure to yield to an emergency vehicle charge. Yanez Gonzalez pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on June 26 in Magistrate Court.

• Crystal Marie Lennie made an initial appearance on a trespass charge. Lennie pleaded guilty and the fine is $200 with a $70 surcharge, a $125 law enforcement initiative surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $455, due within 30 days.

• Jaquelyne Villa Vargas made an initial appearance on a possession of drug paraphernalia charge. Villa Vargas pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on June 26 in Magistrate Court.

• Salud Castillo made an initial appearance on a theft-fifth degree charge. Castillo pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on June 26 in Magistrate Court. Jeff Hazen has been appointed as counsel.

• Agustin Villagomez made an initial appearance on a possession of drug paraphernalia charge. Villagomez pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on June 26 in Magistrate Court.

Accidents

• On Monday, a car driven by Ana Victoria Martinez Perez, 29, of Iowa Falls, was northbound on Center Street approaching Nicholas Drive when the driver entered the intersection on a red light and collided with a pickup driven by Kyle Lee Mattingly, 31, of Toledo. A 6-year-old male passenger in the Martinez Perez car was transported to UnityPoint Health-Marshalltown. Martinez Perez was cited for failure to obey a traffic control device and failure to use a child restraint device. Damage to the Martinez Perez car was estimated at $6,000 while the Mattingly pickup received an estimated $7,000 in damage.

• On Tuesday, , a car driven by Bernice Annette Kimball, 83, Altoona, was attempting to turn from East Anson Street onto South Center Street in the inside lane at the same time a semi driven by Jon Allen Reiner, 57, of Ottumwa, was attempting the turn in the outside lane and the two collided. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Kimball car was estimated at $3,000 while the semi received an estimated $50 in damage.

• On Tuesday, a vehicle driven by Dah Paw, 35, of Marshalltown, was eastbound on East South Street when the driver became distracted and left the travel lane striking a legally parked Trailblazer. No injuries were reported. Damage to both vehicles was estimated at $5,000 each.
