• Gabriel Omar Santos Lopez made an initial appearance through a Spanish interpreter on a failure to write a written arraignment charge, a driving while barred-habitual offender charge and a driving under suspension charge. Tyler Heeren will continue as counsel on the arraignment case. The arraignment hearing will be rescheduled by the District Associate Court. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel on the new charges. The preliminary hearing for the new charges is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Aug. 26. Bond is set at $5,000 cash or surety.

• Kevin Kyle Kroeger made an initial appearance on a theft-third degree charge and a possession of drug paraphernalia charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Aug. 26. Bond is set at $2,000 cash or surety.

• Nykeisha Antoinette Thomas made an initial appearance on a driving while barred charge, a driving under suspension charge, a no insurance charge and a fraudulent use of a registration charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Aug. 26. Thomas was released on her promise to appear.

• Saare Gafo Gerezgiher made an initial appearance on a probation violation charge. The probation revocation hearing will be scheduled by the District Associate Court. Bond is set at $5,000 cash or surety.

• Shaun Dallas Palmer made an initial appearance on a operation while under the influence-first offense charge, a failure to maintain control charge and a striking unattended vehicle charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Sept. 5. Palmer was released on his promise to appear. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days.

• Molly June Gummert made an initial appearance on a public intoxication charge. Gummert pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on Sept. 18 in Magistrate Court.

• Sharmarke Omar Mohammed made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge, a speeding charge and a no insurance charge. The county attorney’s office dismissed all charges with court costs of $60 assessed on each charge, payment is due within 30 days.

• Timothy James Leavy made an initial appearance on two counts of a driving under suspension charge, a no valid driver’s license charge, a no registration charge, a no insurance charge and a operation without registration plate or card charge. Leavy pleaded guilty to all charges. On the driving under suspension and no insurance charges the fines are $250 each with an $87.50 surcharge on each and $60 in court costs for a total of $397.50 on each, due within 30 days. On the two registration charges the fines are $50 each with a $17.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $127.50 each, due within 30 days. The driver’s license fine is $200 with a $70 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $330, due within 30 days.

Incidents

• On Thursday, a theft was reported in the 10 block of East Grant Street.

• On Thursday, a forgery was reported to the Marshalltown Police Station.

Citations

• On Thursday, Nykeisha Antoinette Thomas, 26, was cited for no insurance and fraudulent use of registration.

Arrests

• On Friday, Shaun Palmer, 25, was arrested for failure to maintain control, striking unattended vehicle and operating while under the influence.

• On Thursday, Kimberly Oelmann, 46, was arrested for no insurance, operation without registration and driving while license is denied, cancelled, revoked or suspended.

• On Thursday, Crysa Vestal, 20, was arrested on a warrant.

• On Thursday, Molly Gummert, 32, was arrested for public intoxication-first offense.

Accidents

• On Thursday, a car driven by Veronica Janeth Sanchez Sanchez, 42, of Marshalltown, was exiting a private driveway onto NewCastle Road when it collided with the passenger side of a Jeep driven by Elizabeth Chavarria, 28, of Marshalltown, which was eastbound on NewCastle Road. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Sanchez Sanchez car was estimated at $1,000 while the Chavarria Jeep received an estimated $2,500 in damage.

Marshall County Sheriff

Arrests

• On Thursday, Saare Gafo Gerezgiher, 20, was arrested on a warrant.

• On Thursday, Chris Alan Uitermark, 51, was arrested on a warrant.

Grundy County Sheriff

Arrests

• On Wednesday, Dustin Arends, 33, of Cedar Falls, was arrested at the Sheriff’s Office and charged with assault causing bodily injury. Arends posted bond and was released.

• On Wednesday, Deric Schroeder, 37, of Grundy Center, was arrested on a Grundy County warrant charging him with failure to appear.

• On Wednesday, Joshua Malott, 40, of Reinbeck, was arrested in Reinbeck and charged with domestic abuse assault. Malott is being held in lieu of a bond.

• On Monday, Jody Carnes, 55, of Roland, was arrested by Hardin County authorities on a Grundy County warrant charging her with probation violation. Carnes posted bond and was released.

• On Saturday, Ricky Sigler, 39, of Grundy Center, was arrested in Grundy Center and charged with assault with a dangerous weapon. Sigler is being held in lieu of a bond.

Accidents

• On Saturday, a vehicle driven by Michael Palmer, 49, of Dike, was westbound on 160th Street west of Butler Road when a cow entered the roadway and was struck. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Palmer vehicle was estimated at $2,000.

• On Friday, a car driven by Jessica Nickel, 27, of Reinbeck, was westbound on Randall Street in Reinbeck when it collided with a vehicle driven by Joanne Delahunt, 67, of Reinbeck, which was northbound on Chestnut Street and already in the intersection. No injuries were reported. Nickel was cited for failure to yield the right of way. Damage to the Nickel car was estimated at $3,500 while the Delahunt vehicle received an estimated $5,000 in damage.

• On Thursday, a vehicle driven by Tammy Beeghly, 48, of Conrad, was eastbound on 330th Street west of F Avenue when it struck a deer that entered the roadway. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Beeghly vehicle was estimated at $4,600.

• On Tuesday, a vehicle driven by Terry Howard, 50, of Holland, was eastbound on 150th Street east of O Avenue when the driver lost control on the loose gravel and entered the north ditch where it overturned and came to rest on its side. Howard was transported to the nearest hospital for treatment. Howard was cited for failure to maintain control and no valid driver’s license. Damage to the Howard vehicle was estimated at $5,000.
