Court — Tuesday

• Kendra Danielle Walker made an initial appearance on an ongoing criminal conduct charge, a theft-second degree charge, a forgery charge and two counts of a theft-third degree charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Sept. 20. Bond is set at $7,000 cash or surety.

• Desiree Leah Carmer made an initial appearance on a child endangerment charge and two counts of probation violation charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing on the child endangerment charge is 1 p.m. on Sept. 20. The probation revocation hearing will be scheduled by the District Associate Court. Bond is set at $6,000 cash or surety.

• Cornelius Gully made an initial appearance on a probation violation charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The probation revocation hearing will be scheduled by the District Court. Gully is being held without bond.

• Allen Eugene Carmer made an initial appearance on a possession of drug paraphernalia charge and a probation violation charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The probation revocation hearing will be scheduled by the District Associate Court. Carmer is being held without bond. Carmer pleaded guilty to the drug paraphernalia charge and the fine is $65 with a $22.75 surcharge, a $125 law enforcement initiative surcharge, a $10 DARE surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $282.75, due within 30 days.

• Jose Luis Villagomez made an initial appearance on a operating while under the influence-second offense charge. Villagomez will hire his own counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Sept. 30. Villagomez is released on his promise to appear. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days.

• Rickie Lee Horney made an initial appearance on a driving while revoked charge, a possession of drug paraphernalia charge and a failure to obey a stop sign and yield the right of way charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Sept. 30. Horney is released on his promise to appear.

Arrests

• On Monday, Desiree Carmer, 37, was arrested for child endangerment.

• On Monday, Mathew McCanna, 31, was arrested for domestic abuse assault-second offense.

• On Monday, Miguel Angel Ibarra Lemus, 20, was arrested for driving under suspension.

• On Monday, Francisco Perdue, 22, was arrested for trespass.

• On Tuesday, Rickie Lee Horney, 61, was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia.

Accidents

• On Sept. 7, a vehicle driven by Donald Earl Sanchez, 58, of Marshalltown, was westbound on Iowa Avenue when it collided with the rear of a pickup driven by Scott Allen Warnell, 51, of Marshalltown, which was stopped at a red light. No injuries were reported. Sanchez was cited for failure to stop in the assured, clear distance and operating while under the influence-third offense. Damage to the Sanchez vehicle was estimated at $2,500 while the Warnell pickup received an estimated $500 in damage.

• On Sept. 7, a pickup driven by James Patrick Sullivan, 60, of Marshalltown, was southbound on Highland Acres Road stopped at the intersection with Lincoln Way and then proceeded forward into the path of a car driven by Seth Dean Kudelka, 19, of Marshalltown, resulting in a collision. No injuries were reported. Sullivan was cited for failure to yield upon entering a through highway. Damage to the Kudelka car was estimated at $2,500 while the Sullivan pickup received an estimated $1,000 in damage.

• On Sept. 7, a vehicle driven by Denise Kay VanHeiden, 45, of Holland, was traveling through a Casey’s parking lot when her brakes failed and she struck the northwest corner of the building. No injuries were reported. Damage to the VanHeiden vehicle was estimated at $3,000 while damage to the building was estimated at $10,000.
