Court — Wednesday

• Aaron Thomas Stotts made an initial appearance on a child endangerment charge. Stotts will hire Kevin O’Hare as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Oct. 4. Bond is set at $2,000 cash or surety. A no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

• Lazaro Martin Villagomez made an initial appearance on a possession of LSD with the intent to deliver charge, a possession of marijuana-first offense charge, a failure to affix a drug tax stamp charge and a possession of drug paraphernalia charge. The public defender’s office was appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Oct. 4. Bond is set at $25,000 cash or surety. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days.

• Justin Carroll Deal made an initial appearance on a theft-second degree charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Oct. 4. Bond is set at $5,000 cash or surety.

• Nathan Wayne Cuellar made an initial appearance on a driving while barred charge. The public defender’s office was appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Oct. 4. Bond is set at $2,000 cash or surety.

• Amber Rose Niederklopper made an initial appearance on a violation of a no-contact order/contempt of court charge. Breanna Nelson will continue as counsel. The pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on Oct. 4 in Magistrate Court. Niederklopper is released with supervision through the Department of Correctional Services and is to report to the adult probation office within 48 hours to sign a pre-trial release agreement. A new no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

• Diego Nathanel Murillo made an initial appearance on two counts of a probation violation charge. Chad Frese will continue as counsel. The probation revocation hearing will be scheduled by then District Court. Bond is set at $10,000 cash only.

• Jermiane Claude Spencer made an initial appearance on a theft-third degree charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Oct. 4. Bond is set at $2,000 cash or surety.

• Ethan James Krueger made an initial appearance on a theft-fifth degree charge. Krueger pleaded guilty and the fine is $65 with a $22.75 surcharge, a $125 law enforcement initiative surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $272.75, due within 30 days.

• Shannon Lyn McKay made an initial appearance on a driving while barred charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Oct. 15. McKay was released on her promise to appear.

• Michaela Renae Nelson made an initial appearance on a failure to yield to an emergency vehicle charge. Nelson pleaded guilty and the fine is $100 with a $35 surcharge, a $5 county enforcement initiative surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $200, due within 30 days.

Arrests

• On Tuesday, Armando Perez-Galvez, 22, was arrested for driving while license is denied, cancelled, revoked or suspended.

• On Tuesday, Amber Niederklopper, 36, was arrested for contempt of court/violation of a no-contact order.

• On Tuesday, Shaddare Watkins, 27, was arrested for trespass-first offense and interference with official acts.

Accidents

• On Sunday, a vehicle driven by Christelle Maklese Grace, 26, of Marshalltown, was exiting a parking spot next to a Pontiac Vibe when the inexperienced driver started turning the steering wheel before backing and struck the passenger side of Pontiac and continued all the way down the side. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Grace vehicle was estimated at $2,000 while the Pontiac Vibe received an estimated $3,000 in damage.

• On Monday, a bicycle ridden by Sean Douglas Switzer, 39, of Liscomb, was attempting to elude officers by going through an alleyway and when the bicycle exited the alley it collided with the side of a vehicle driven by Jon Michael Kurth, 35, of State Center. Switzer was transported to UnityPoint Health-Marshalltown by ambulance.

• On Tuesday, a car driven by Kim Jolene Barber, 57, of Marshalltown, was eastbound on Highway 30 when it struck a deer that entered the roadway. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Barber car was estimated at $4,000.

• On Wednesday, a panel van driven by Matthew Glenn Cartee, 36, of Ames, was southbound on 18th Avenue in the inside lane when the driver attempted a right hand turn and collided with a pickup truck driven by Greg Allan Gelo, 59, of Marshalltown, which was traveling south in the outside lane. No injuries were reported. Cartee was cited for unsafe turn. Damage to the Gelo pickup was estimated at $2,500 while the Cartee van received an estimated $3,000 in damage.

Arrests

• On Tuesday, Joseph Emerson, 31, was arrested.

• On Tuesday, Lazaro Villagomez, 20, was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia, controlled substance violation, failure to affix a drug tax stamp and possession of a controlled substance-first offense.

• On Tuesday, Aaron Stotts, 33, was arrested for child endangerment.

• On Tuesday, Sept. 24, Justin Carroll Deal, 39, was arrested for theft-second degree.

• On Tuesday, Lorena Martinez, 26, was arrested on a warrant.

• On Tuesday, Diego Nathanel Murrillo, 22, was arrested on a warrant.
