Court — Tuesday

• Nickolas Murty made an initial appearance on 12 counts of a forgery charge, nine counts of a theft-third degree charge and two counts of a theft-second degree charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Sept. 13. Bond is set at $20,000 cash or surety.

• Brittni Lynn Nichole Overman made an initial appearance on an animal neglect charge. Breanna Nelson is appointed as counsel. A pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on Oct. 9. Bond will continue as posted until the conclusion of this case.

• Hannis Kura made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge, a driving or towing an unsafe vehicle charge, a no insurance charge and a violation of a one-way designation charge. Kura pleaded guilty to all charges. On the driving under suspension and insurance charges the fines are $250 with an $87.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $397.50 for each charge. The fines on the unsafe driving or towing of a vehicle and one-way designation charges the fines are $100 with a $35 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $195. All payments are due within 30 days.

• Jerome McDowell made an initial appearance on a public intoxication charge and an interference with official acts charge. McDowell pleaded guilty to both charges. On the interference charge the fine is $250 with a $87.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $397.50. The fine on the public intoxication is $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $147.75. All payments are due within 30 days.

• Ryan Patrick Clemens failed to make an appearance on a driving under suspension charge and a failure to maintain a registration plate charge and the court found Clemens guilty by default. The fine on the driving under suspension is $250 with a $87.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $397.50. The fine on the registration plate charge is $20 with a $12 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $92. Payments are due within 30 days.

• On Saturday, a case of vandalism to property was reported in the 900 block of South Second Street.

• On Saturday, a theft was reported in the 1400 block of South 12th Avenue.

• On Saturday, a theft was reported in the 100 block of NewCastle Road.

• On Monday, a theft of a motor vehicle was reported to the Marshalltown Police Station.

• On Sunday, a burglary was reported in the 500 block of North Third Street.

• On Sunday, a theft valued between $500 – $1,000 was reported in the 200 block of North 12th Avenue.

• On Monday, a theft valued between $1,000 – $10,000 was reported in the 1300 block of Glenwood Terrace.

• On Monday, Miguel Reyes Jr., 45, was arrested for driving while license is denied, cancelled, revoked or suspended.

• On Monday, Nicholas Vogel, 51, was arrested for open container and operating while under the influence.

• On Monday, Keith Slingluff, 41, was arrested for open container.

Accidents

• On Thursday, a vehicle driven by a 17-year-old female from Marshalltown was westbound on Anson Street at the 12th Avenue intersection when she pulled away from the stop sign and collided with a pickup driven by Jennifer Sue Allison, 48, of Marshalltown, which was northbound on 12th Avenue. No injuries were reported. The juvenile ws cited for failure to obey a stop sign and yield the right of way. Damage to the juvenile’s vehicle was estimated at $5,000 while the Allison pickup was estimated at $4,500.

• On Friday, a pickup driven by 17-year-old male from Marshalltown was trying to negotiate between two parked vehicles when it struck a Chevy Cobalt and then left the scene without leaving information. No injuries were reported. The juvenile was cited for striking an unattended vehicle and violation of minors school license. Damage to the pickup was estimated at $750 while the Chevy Cobalt was estimated at $1,500.

Incidents

• On Aug. 28, a report of two burglaries and the theft of a motorcycle and two generators were reported to the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office.

• On Sunday, a case of criminal mischief in the commission of a theft was reported in Le Grand.

• On Friday, Jose Galvan Hidalgo, 28, was arrested for operating while under the influence-first offense.

• On Friday, Leroy Hayes III, 32, was arrested on a warrant.

• On Friday, Jose Castro, 39, was arrested on a warrant charging him with contempt of court-act of omission of district court.• On Monday, Veysel Yilmaz, 32, was arrested for unlawful possession of prescription drugs, improper use of lanes, possession of a Schedule I controlled substance-first offense and operating while under the influence-first offense.

• On Saturday, Juan Garcia Alcaraz, 26, was arrested for driving while barred-habitual offender and driving under suspension.

• On Sunday, Chelsia Wallican-Jones, 27, was arrested for possession of marijuana-first offense and possession of drug paraphernalia.

• On Monday, Zachary Matteson, 24, was arrested for operating while under the influence-first offense and careless driving.

• On Monday, Kevin Hundley, 48, was arrested for assault.
