Tuesday

• Fred Ray Fehrmann Jr. made an initial appearance on a failure to file a written arraignment charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The arraignment hearing will be rescheduled by the District Associate Court. Bond is set at $2,000 cash only.

• Ni Sher made an initial appearance through a Karen interpreter on a domestic abuse assault charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Jan. 17, 2020. Sher was released on his promise to appear. A no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

• Jeremy Lynn Lavender made an initial appearance on a probation violation charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The probation revocation hearing will be scheduled by the District Associate Court. Bond is set at $5,000 cash only.

• Abdelrahman Obaidalla Abdalla made an initial appearance on a public intoxication charge. Abdalla pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on Jan. 15, 2020, in Magistrate Court.

Monday

• Matthew John McCarthy made an initial appearance on a contempt of court/violation of a no-contact order charge. Michael Marquis will continue as counsel. The contempt hearing will be scheduled by the District Associate Court. McCarthy is released with supervision through the Department of Correctional Services and is to report to the adult probation office within 24 hours to sign a pre-trial release agreement. McCarthy is ordered to contact his attorney within 24 hours. A new no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

• Angel Marie White made an initial appearance on a violation of a no-contact order/contempt of court charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The contempt hearing will be scheduled by the District Associate Court. White is released on her promise to appear. A new no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

• Ryan Andersen, of Grinnell, made an initial appearance on a passing contrary to a sign charge. Andersen pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on Feb. 5, 2020 in Magistrate Court.

• Luther Dewayne Brown made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge, a failure to obtain SR-22 insurance charge and a speeding charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Jan. 17, 2020.
