Court — Tuesday

• Amy Danielle Porter, of Des Moines, made an initial appearance on a possession of a controlled substance-third or subsequent offense charge, a driving under suspension charge, a possession of drug paraphernalia charge, a no insurance charge, a speeding charge and a no valid driver’s license charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Feb. 28. Porter was released on her own recognizance and told to report to her probation officer by 4 p.m. on Tuesday. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days.

• Joshua Robert Richard Jamell made an initial appearance on a probation violation charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The probation revocation hearing will be scheduled by the District Associate Court. Jamell was released on his promise to appear.

• Lashae Caprice Stanton made an initial appearance on two counts of an unauthorized use of a credit card charge and two counts of a pre-trial release violation charge. The public defender’s office is appointed for the two new charges. The preliminary hearing for the credit card charge is set at 1 p.m. on Feb. 20. Pre-trial release is revoked. Bond for all charges is $10,000 cash only.

• Enrique Santos made an initial appearance on an extradition request from Kansas. Christian Stickrod is appointed as counsel. The extradition hearing will be scheduled by the District Court. Santos is being held without bond.

• Khamphet Luong made an initial appearance on a probation violation charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The probation revocation hearing will be scheduled by the District Associate Court. Bond is $2,000 cash or surety.

Arrests

• On Sunday, Jose Ramirez-Martinez, 45, was arrested for public intoxication-first offense.

• On Sunday, Jonatan Yepez, 23, was arrested for failure to file SR-22 insurance and driving while license is denied or revoked.

• On Sunday, Luis Maravilla, 18, was arrested for dog at large.

• On Sunday, Raul Mares Rodriguez, 28, was arrested for driving while license is denied, cancelled, revoked or suspended.

• On Sunday, Pleh Reh, 36, was arrested for driving while license is denied, cancelled, revoked or suspended and operating while under the influence-first offense.

• On Saturday, Shonnelle Holmes, 25, was arrested for carrying weapons and driving while barred-habitual offender.

• On Saturday, David Duran, 25, was arrested for criminal mischief-fifth degree.

• On Saturday, Craig Terry, 51, was arrested for driving under suspension.

• On Saturday, Rocio Reyes, 20, was arrested for insufficient number of headlamps, no insurance and possession of a controlled substance-second offense.

Arrests

• On Monday, Dublin Quinn, 32, was arrested for driving while barred.

• On Monday, Rebeca Melendez, 40, was arrested for criminal mischief-third degree and assault.

• On Monday, Khamphet Luong, 51, was arrested on a warrant charging him with violation of probation.

Grundy County Sheriff

On Feb. 10 at approximately 6:06 a.m., Grundy County Sheriff deputies initiated a traffic stop after several 911 complaints came into dispatch reporting erratic driving on Highway 20 Eastbound from the Wellsburg exit.

At one point a caller reported that there were gun shots involved in an apparent road rage incident. As a result of the traffic stop and investigation into the incident the following arrests were made: George Byron Jones, 52, of Vinton, was charged with three counts of possession of a firearm by a felon, unauthorized possession of an offensive weapon, unauthorized carrying of weapons and manner of conveyance and Rene Edgell, 57, of Vinton, was charged with unlawful possession of an offensive weapon, unlawful carrying of an offensive weapon, reckless use of a firearm and manner of conveyance.

Jones and Edgell were taken to the Grundy County Jail where Jones is being held in lieu of a $52,500 bond and Edgell is being held in lieu of a $12,500 bond.

The incident remains under investigation.
