Court — Monday
• Salud Castillo made an initial appearance on a probation violation charge and a sex offender violation charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The probation revocation hearing is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Aug. 24. Bond is set at $10,000 cash or surety. The preliminary hearing for the sex offender violation is set at 1 p.m. on Aug. 13. Bond is set at $7,000 cash only.
• Mark Anthony Soard made an initial appearance on a no insurance charge. Soard pleaded guilty and the fine is $250 with a $87.50 surcharge, a $5 county enforcement initiative surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $402.50, due within 30 days.
• Craig Thomas Passick made an initial appearance on a failure to obey a traffic control device charge. Passick pleaded guilty and the fine is $100 with a $35 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $195, due within 30 days.
• Joseph Xavier Lay made an initial appearance on a probation violation charge. Lay pleaded guilty and the fine is $415 with a $125 surcharge and $266.25 in court costs for a total of $868.50, due within 30 days.
• Victor Ernest Hernandez Moreno had an arraignment hearing rescheduled for 1 p.m. on Aug. 13. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The bond will continue as posted.
• A 17-year-old male made an initial appearance on a curfew violation charge. The juvenile pleaded guilty and the fine is $65 with a $9.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $134.75, due within 30 days.
• Kyle Newby made an initial appearance on an extradition request. Jeff Hazen was appointed as counsel. The extradition hearing is scheduled for 3 p.m. on Aug. 31. Bond is set at $3,000 cash or surety.
• Allen Lee Roy Schrader made an initial appearance on a possession of a controlled substance-third or subsequent offense charge, a driving while barred charge and a possession of drug paraphernalia charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Aug. 28. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days. Bond is set at $5,000 cash or surety.
• Natrisha Leigh Banks made an initial appearance on a possession of a controlled substance-third or subsequent offense and a possession of drug paraphernalia charge. Aron Vaughn is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Aug. 18. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days.
• Jacob Patrick Schultz made an initial appearance on a violation of a no-contact order out of Blackhawk County. Ray Starks is appointed as counsel. A pre-trial conference is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. on Oct. 14. A no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.
• Dion Lee Knapp made an initial appearance on a domestic abuse charge. Christian Stickrod is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Aug. 17. A no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.
Knapp also appeared on a disorderly conduct charge. A pre-trial conference is scheduled for 9:30 p.m. on Oct. 14 in Magistrate Court.
• Bernie Lynn Johnson made an initial appearance on a assault charge. Tyler Heeren is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Aug. 14.
• Richard Wayne Samora made an initial appearance on an assault charge. The preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Aug. 18. Samora was released with supervision through the Department of Correctional Services and is to report to the adult probation office in 72 hours to sign a pre-trial release agreement.
• Victoria Dawn Estrada made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge. Estrada pleaded guilty and the fine is $250 with a $37.50 surcharge and $55 in court costs for a total of $342.50, due within 30 days.
• Jacquelyn Michelle Laffoon made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge. Laffoon pleaded guilty and the fine is $250 with a $37.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $347.50, due within 30 days.

• Kevin Hundley, 48, was arrested for operating while under the influence-first offense and speeding.
