Court — Monday

• Elizabeth Anne Flowe made an initial appearance on a failure to appear for a pre-trial conference. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The pre-trial conference is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Feb. 12 with a jury trial at 9 a.m. on Feb. 25. Bond is set at $1,000 cash or surety.

• Alejandro Gonzalez Torres made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge. A pre-trial conference is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. on Jan. 20, 2021, in Magistrate Court.

• Elmer Adalberto Garcia Ramos made an initial appearance on a possession of marijuana-first offense charge and a possession of drug paraphernalia charge. Aron Vaughn is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Jan. 8, 2021. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days.

• Zachary Marcus Woerner made an initial appearance on a possession of marijuana-second offense charge and a possession of drug paraphernalia charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Jan. 8, 2021. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days.

• Michael Dean Overton made an initial appearance on a at large prohibited charge. Overton pleaded guilty and the fine is $105 with a $15.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $180.75, due within 60 days.

• Andrew Scott Grandstaff made an initial appearance on a operating while under the influence charge and an eluding charge. Grandstaff will hire his own counsel. The preliminary hearing is at 1 p.m. on Jan. 4, 2021. Grandstaff was released with supervision through the Department of Correctional Services and is to report to the adult probation office within 96 hours to sign a pre-trial release agreement. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days.

Grandstaff also appeared and pleaded guilty to three counts of a speeding charge, an improper rear lamp charge, a failure to maintain control charge, a violation of instruction permit charge, two counts of a improper lane change charge, a no insurance charge, a failure to obey stop sign and yield the right of way charge and a stopping, standing or parking where prohibited charge. On the failure to maintain charge, the two improper lane change and the failure to obey a stop sign charge the fines are $135 with a $20.25 surcharge and $55 in court costs for a total of $210.25 for each charge. On two of the speeding charges the fines are $120 with a $18 surcharge and $55 in court costs for a total of $193 for each charge. The other speeding charge fine is $190 with a $28.50 and $55 in court costs for a total of $273.50. The improper rear lamp charge is $30 with a $4.50 surcharge and $55 in court costs for a total of $89.50. The fine on the instruction permit charge is $70 with a $10.50 surcharge and $55 in court costs for a total of $135.50. The fine for the no insurance charge is $645 with a $96.75 surcharge and $55 in court costs for a total of $796.75. The stopping where prohibited charge is $5 with a 75 cent surcharge and $8 in court costs for a total of $13.75. All payments are due within 30 days.

• On Monday, a hit and run accident was reported in the 1600 block of Marion Street.

• On Saturday, a burglary of an unoccupied motor vehicle was reported in the 1100 block of West Church Street.

• On Saturday, a theft resulting from a case of identity theft was reported to the Marshalltown Police Station.

• On Saturday, a case of vandalism to property was reported in the 300 block of South First Street.

• On Friday, a case of vandalism to property was reported in the 100 block of West Madison Street.

• On Friday, a case of vandalism to property in the commission of a burglary and two thefts from a building were reported in the 3200 block of South 12th Street.

Citations

• On Friday, Emmalea Nicole McDonald, 22, was cited for driving under suspension.

• On Friday, Delena Paula Stands, 19, was cited for operating a non-registered vehicle and no insurance-accident.

Arrests

• On Sunday, Steven Seelye Jr., 38, was arrested for trespass-first offense.

• On Saturday, Delena Stands, 19, was arrested for driving while barred.

• On Saturday, Jacob Hansen, 29, was arrested for providing false identification information, possession of drug paraphernalia and on warrants.

• On Friday, Dec. 18, Brynn Price, 35, was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while barred, unlawful possession of prescription drugs and on a warrant.

• On Friday, Emmalea McDonald, 22, was arrested for driving under suspension.

• On Friday, Andrew Grandstaff, 21, was arrested for eluding and operating while under the influence-first offense.

• On Friday, Rogelio Sanchez Sanchez, 29, was arrested for theft-third degree and identity theft.
