Court — Thursday

• Lindsey Marie Smith made an initial appearance on a failure to maintain control charge and a no insurance charge. Smith pleaded guilty to both charges. On the failure to maintain control charge the fine is $155 with court costs of $90 for a total of $245.25. The fine on the no insurance charge is $645 with a $96.75 surcharge and $90 in court costs for a total of $831.75. All payments are due within 30 days.

• Adriana Bernice Herrera Paez made an initial appearance on a possession of methamphetamine-first offense charge, a keeping a premises or vehicle for controlled substance violation charge, two counts of a child endangerment charge and a possession of drug paraphernalia charge. Jeff Hazen appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Jan. 8. A no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

• Manuel John Rodriguez made an initial appearance on a possession of meth-first offense charge, two counts of a child endangerment charge, a keeping a premises or vehicle for controlled substance violation charge and a possession of drug paraphernalia charge. Tyler Reichardt was appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Jan. 8. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days. A no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

• Gina Kiris Anthony made an initial appearance on an assault causing bodily injury or mental illness charge. Ray Starks is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Jan. 18. A no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

• Nathanael Alfred Slettens made an initial appearance on a public intoxication charge. A pre-trial conference is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. on Feb. 3 in Magistrate Court.

• Johnathan Cody Tuttle made an initial appearance on a child endangerment-causing bodily injury charge. Jennie Wilson-Moore is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Jan. 8. A no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

Dec. 27

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a dispatched/canceled en route to 424 Union St. and four medical assists with the EMS crew to: 408 N. 17th St. 509 E. Church St., 1701 Iowa Ave. East and 402 N. First St.

Dec. 26

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a sprinkler activation due to malfunction at 901 E. Olive St., a building or structure weakened or collapsed at 1301 Summit St., a water problem at 2001 S. 18th Ave., two dispatched/canceled en routes to 303 S. First St. and 1301 Summit St. and two medical assists with the EMS crew to 202 N. Second Ave. and 908 Summit St.

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a building fire at 603 W. Main St., a carbon monoxide detector activation due to malfunction at 501 N. 13th Ave., a dispatched/canceled en route to 1501 W. Church St., an explosion (no fire) at 906 E. Main St., an oil or other combustible liquid spill at 9 E. Grant St. and a medical assist with the EMS crew to 2012 S. Sixth St.

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a sprinkler activation due to malfunction at 2001 S. 18th Ave., a dispatched/canceled en route to 206 S. Fourth St., a service call to 1011 S. Seventh Ave. and four medical assists with the EMS crew to: 1009 S. Ninth Ave., 106 College Drive, 5 W. Meadow Lane and 2500 S. Center St.

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to three dispatched/canceled en routes to: North Center Street and East Main Street, 901 N. Third Ave. and 3303 S. Center St. and seven medical assists with the EMS crew to: 408 Jerome St., 915 W. Merle Hibbs Blvd., 401 S. Center St., 2500 S. Center St., 1211 W. State St., 1 W. Grant St. and 1602 Westwood Drive.

Dec. 22

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a no incident found upon arrival at dispatch address at 209 N. 19th St., two dispatched/canceled en routes to 1301 Summit St. and 202 Thomas Drive and three medical assists with the EMS crew to: 1701 Iowa Ave. East, 1114 Washington St. and 3700 S. Center St.

Dec. 21

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a dispatched/canceled en route to 304 S. Second Ave., an overheated motor at 3702 S. Center St. and three medical assists with the EMS crew to: 3202 S. 12th St., 1211 W. State St. and 915 W. Merle Hibbs Blvd.
