Marshalltown Fire Department

• At 10 a.m., the Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a residential fire at 704 Union St. Upon arrival, fire department personnel found a small single-family house with light smoke issuing from the basement windows. Firefighters entered the structure and found a small fire in the basement that was quickly extinguished with a pressurized water can. Two people were at home during the time of the fire and escaped prior to the arrival of fire department personnel. Alliant Energy, Marshalltown Police, Marshalltown Public Works and Unity Point EMS assisted at the scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

• At noon, the Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a residential fire at 308 Plaza Heights Road. Upon arrival, firefighters found a 4-plex apartment building with smoke showing from the windows of the upper floor. The fire originated on the stovetop and extended to the cabinets above the stove. Firefighters entered the structure and found a small fire in the kitchen that was quickly extinguished. One person was at home during the time of the fire and escaped prior to the arrival of fire department personnel. Marshalltown Police, Marshalltown Public Works and Unity Point EMS assisted at the scene.

Marshall County Court

• A no-contact order was issued during an initial appearance of Colton Lee Arvidson for a domestic abuse charge. A preliminary hearing is set for March 5.

• Megan Lee Needs made an initial appearance for a charge of third offense possession of a controlled substance. Attorney Joel Waters was appointed for Needs on a parole violation charge.

• Nikki Leigh Camarena was found in default for failure to appear for a charge of driving while her license was denied or suspended. Camarena was ordered to pay a $250 fine.

• Jose Dejesus Medina Cervantes was found in default for failure to appear for a charge of speeding. He was ordered to pay a $140 fine.

• Jack Allen Edwards was found in default for failure to appear for a charge of failure to provide proof of financial liability. He was ordered to pay a $325 fine.

• A hearing for Angela Jean Dunbar was canceled. She faces a charge of driving with a barred license and an arraignment is scheduled for Thursday.

• Sierra Paige Warnell pleaded guilty to a charge of driving while license is suspended, denied or canceled. She was ordered to pay a $250 fine.

• Anthony Alexander Perry was found in default for failure to appear for a charge of rabies vaccination violation. He was ordered to pay a $105 fine.
