• Jomari Morales made an initial appearance on a failure to appear for arraignment and on new charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia and providing false identification information. The arraignment hearing will be rescheduled by the District Associate Court. Bond is set at $1,000 cash. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel on the new charges. The preliminary hearing is set for 9 a.m. on April 24. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court.

• Jesus Ventura Carrasco made an initial appearance on a violation of a no-contact order/contempt of court charge. Jeff Hazen is appointed as counsel. The contempt hearing is set at 9:30 a.m. on April 21. Bond is set at $300 cash. A new no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

• Rafael Lopez Barboza made an initial appearance on a operating while under the influence-third or subsequent offense charge and a driving while barred charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. on April 24. Bond is set at $5,000 cash or surety. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court.

• Anthony Antonio Anderson made an initial appearance on two counts of a violation of pre-trial release charge. Pre-trial release is revoked. Bond is set at $2,000 cash for each charege.

• Chad Michael Baker made an initial appearance on a parole violation charge. The parole revocation hearing will be scheduled by the Administrative Law Judge. Baker is being held without bond.

• Felly Litalema Amisi made an initial appearance ona two counts of a pre-trial release violation charge. Pre-trial release is revoked. Amisi is being held without bond.

• Shavazzia Lynn Edwards made an initial appearance on a driving while revoked charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is set for 9 a.m. on May 1.

• Jeremy Steven Rocheleau made an initial appearance on a disorderly conduct charge and dog at large charge. Rocheleau pleaded guilty to the dog at large charge and the fine is $105 with a $15.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $180.75. Nicholas Pilcher is appointed as counsel on the disorderly conduct charge. A pre-trial conference is set for 9:30 a.m. on May 3 in Magistrate Court.

• Cynthia Kay Bryant made an initial appearance on a theft-fifth degree charge. Bryant pleaded guilty and the fine is $105 with a $15.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $180.75.

• Samantha Jo Collinson made an initial appearance on a warrant charging her with failure to appear on a theft-fifth degree charge. A pre-trial conference is set for 9:30 a.m. on April 19 in Magistrate Court.

• Jacob Michael Lowell Zink made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge. A pre-trial conference is set for 9:30 a.m. on July 12 in Magistrate Court.

Accidents

• On Monday, April 10, a car driven by Michael Jonathan Paulsen, 33, of Waukee, was southbound on Highway 330 when a feline entered the roadway resulting in the Paulsen car swerving to avoid hitting the animal, entering the median and sustaining front and rear bumper damage. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Paulsen car was estimated at $4,000.

• On Friday, April 14, Rafael Barboza, 45, was arrested for driving while license is denied, canceled, revoked or suspended and operating while under the influence-second offense.

• On Thursday, April 13, Jeremiah McMullen, 18, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance-first offense, driving while license is denied, canceled, revoked or suspended, driving under suspension-no SR-22 on file and assault.

• On Thursday, April 13, Andrew Grandstaff, 23, was arrested for driving while barred-habitual offender.

• On Thursday, April 13, Felly Amisi, 27, was arrested on a warrant.
