• Gustavo Alonso Diaz Jr. made an initial appearance on a probation violation charge and an absence from custody charge. The probation revocation hearing will be scheduled by the District Associate Court. Bond is set at $2,000 cash or surety. The preliminary hearing for the absence from custody charge is set at 9:30 a.m. on May 8. Diaz is being held without bond.
• Mark Anthony Soard made an initial appearance on a probation violation charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The probation revocation hearing is set for 2 p.m. on May 12. Soard is being held without bond.
• Justin Lee Harrell made an initial appearance on a probation violation charge. Patrick Peters is appointed as counsel. The probation revocation hearing is set for 3:30 p.m. on May 15. Bond is set at $2,000 cash or surety.
• Anthony Lynn West made an initial appearance on two counts of a probation violation charge. Jennie Wilson-Moore is appointed as counsel. The probation revocation hearings will be scheduled by the District Associate Court. Bond is set at $5,000 cash or surety on each count.

• Michael James Lowery failed to appear on a failure to stop in the assured, clear distance charge and the court found him guilty. The fine is $135 with a $20.25 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $215.25.

Accidents
• On Monday, April 17, a pickup driven by Melissa Louise Pierce, 52, of Cedar Rapids, was eastbound on Highway 30 when it struck a deer that was crossing the highway headed south. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Pierce pickup was estimated at $5,000.
