• Christopher Wayne Haller made an initial appearance on a theft-first degree charge, a theft-third degree charge and two counts of a burglary-third degree charge. The preliminary hearing is set for 9 a.m. on June 5. Bond is set at $10,000 cash.

• Michael George Ford made an initial appearance on a soliciting ride from within highway charge and a pedestrian walking on the wrong side of a highway charge. A pre-trial conference is set for 9:30 a.m. on June 7 in Magistrate Court.

• Luis Javier Mendoza Soto made an initial appearance on a domestic abuse assault-second offense charge and three counts of a child endangerment charge. Mark Olberding is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is set for 9 a.m. on June 12. A no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

• Skyler Lee Short was found guilty on a driving under suspension charge and the fine is $250 with a $37.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $347.50.

Arrests

• On Wednesday, May 24, Christopher Haller, 38, was arrested for theft-first degree, two counts of burglary-third degree and theft-third degree.

• On Wednesday, May 24, Cedano Thomas, 30, was arrested on a warrant.

• On Wednesday, May 24, Alexis Reeves, 24, was arrested for driving while license is denied, canceled, revoked or suspended, open container, no insurance, improper use of lanes, failure to illuminate rear plate, improper rear lamps and operating while under the influence-second offense.

• On Tuesday, May 23, Malinda Cruz-Bautista, 30, was arrested on a warrant.

• On Tuesday, May 23, Tesa Nichol, 28, was arrested for child endangerment and domestic abuse assault-first offense-causing bodily injury.

• On Tuesday, May 23, Michael Ford, 42, was arrested for trespass-first offense.

• On Tuesday, May 23, Daevon Morgan, 29, was arrested for violation of a no-contact order/contempt of court.

Arrests

• On Wednesday, May 24, Michael Ford, 42, was arrested for hitchhiking and pedestrian walking on wrong side of highway.

• On Wednesday, May 24, Jermaine Oden, 25, was arrested for driving while barred-habitual offender, driving under suspension (no SR-22 on file) and driving while license is denied, canceled, revoked or suspended.

• On Wednesday, May 24, Akolda Arou, 23, was arrested for driving while barred-habitual offender, operating while under the influence-second offense, driving while license is denied, canceled, revoked or suspended, open container and stopping on paved portion of the highway.

• On Wednesday, May 24, Manuel Vargas Rosas, 24, was arrested for violation of probation.

Accidents

• On Tuesday, May 23, a car driven by Grant Raymond Runge, 33, of Beaman, was southbound on Sanford Avenue when it struck a deer that entered the roadway from the east ditch. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Runge car was estimated at $6,500.

• On Sunday, May 21, a minivan driven by Jacqueline Suzanne Schott, 75, of Fort Dodge, was eastbound on Highway 30 going under the overpass when it struck a deer that entered the roadway. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Schott minivan was estimated at $1,500.

• On Saturday, May 20, an SUV driven by Delores Marie Ennenga, 68, of Beaman, was northbound on Zeller Avenue when it struck a deer that entered the roadway. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Ennenga SUV was estimated at $5,000.

• On Thursday, May 18, an SUV driven by Madeline Mae Diser, 20, of Marshalltown, was eastbound on 190th Street when it struck a deer that entered the roadway resulting in disabling front end damage. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Diser SUV was estimated at $7,500.
