Accidents
• On Wednesday, June 21, a van driven by Ubaldo Bruno-Marcelino, 47, of Ackley, was southbound on Marsh Avenue when an animal ran in front of the van resulting in the driver swerving to miss the animal and it entered the east ditch where it overturned coming to rest on the left side. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Bruno-Marcelino van was estimated at $2,000. Bruno-Marcelino was cited for failure to maintain control.
• On Sunday, June 18, an SUV driven by Lindi Nicole Gerard, 34, of Marshalltown, was southbound on Wiese Garden Road when it struck a deer that entered the roadway. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Gerard SUV was estimated at $7,500.
• On Friday, June 16, a car driven by Alejandro Bonilla, 33, of Tama, was eastbound on Highway 30 when it struck a deer that entered the roadway. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Bonilla car was estimated at $1,500.

• Rudy Singh made an initial appearance on 24 counts of a violation of a no-contact/contempt of court order charge. Chris Clausen will continue as counsel. The contempt hearing will be scheduled by the District Court. Bond is set at $24,000 cash or surety. A new no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.
• Nickolas Ray Glenn made an initial appearance on a stopping, standing or parking where prohibited charge and an interference will official acts charge. Glenn pleaded guilty to both charges. The fine on the stopping, standing or parking where prohibited is $105 with a $15.75 surcharge and $43 in court costs for a total of $163.75. The fine on the $250 with a $37.50 surcharge and $110 in court costs for a total of $397.50.
• Wesley Ryan Moler made an initial appearance on a disorderly conduct charge. Moler pleaded guilty and the fine is $105 with a $15.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $180.75.
• Ernesto Garcia Rodriguez made an initial appearance on two counts of a sexual abuse-second degree charge and a sexual abuse-third degree charge. The preliminary hearing is set for 9:30 a.m. on July 7. Bond is set at $100,000 cash. A no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.
• Joshua Owen Heyward made an initial appearance on a operating while under the influence-first offense charge. The preliminary hearing is set for 9:30 a.m. on July 19. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court.
• Clayton Jay Eubanks made an initial appearance on a driving while barred charge. The public defender's office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is set for 9:30 a.m. on July 19.
