• John Paul Hulin made an initial appearance on a driving while barred charge and a driving under suspension charge. Patrick Peters is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is set for 9:30 a.m. on June 26.

• Sunny Maipi made an initial appearance on a trespass charge. Maipi pleaded guilty and the fine is $260 with a $39 surcharge and $55 in court costs for a total of $354.

• On Monday, June 5, John Hulin, 47, was arrested for driving while license is denied, canceled, revoked or suspended and driving while barred-habitual offender.

• On Monday, June 5, Yosvanis Martinez Puig, 40, was arrested for theft-fifth degree-shoplifting.

• On Monday, June 5, Gabby Carballo, 45, was arrested for theft-fifth degree-shoplifting.

• On Monday, June 5, Sunny Maipi, 27, was arrested for trespass-first offense.

• On Monday, June 5, David Burger, 20, was arrested for driving while barred-habitual offender, driving while license is denied, canceled, revoked or suspended and speeding.

Accidents

• On Monday, May 22, a pickup driven by Terry James Hurt, 50, of Fort Calhoun, Neb., was southbound on Highway 330 when it struck a deer that entered the roadway from the west ditch. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Hurt pickup was estimated at $8,000.

• On Wednesday, May 24, an SUV driven by Steven Wayne Anderson, 45, of Vinton, was eastbound on Highway 30 when it struck a deer that entered the roadway at the intersection with Shady Oaks Road. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Anderson SUV was estimated at $4,000.

• On Wednesday, May 24, a minivan driven by Jose Luis Zapata, 44, of Eldora, was northbound on Hopkins Avenue when a deer jumped onto the roadway from the east ditch and was struck. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Zapata minivan was estimated at $3,000.

• On Wednesday, May 31, a car driven by Joseph Albert Dean Eilbeck, 35, of State Center, was westbound on Highway 30 when it struck a deer that exited the south ditch. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Eilbeck car was estimated at $8,000.

• On Wednesday, May 31, an SUV driven by Melody Sue Harris, 59, of Eldora, was northbound on Marsh Avenue when it struck a deer that entered the roadway. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Harris SUV was estimated at $4,500.

• On Thursday, June 1, a pickup driven by Luke Hamilton McKibben, 22, of Marshalltown, was westbound on Highway 30 when it struck a deer crossing the roadway. No injuries were reported. Damage to the McKibben pickup was estimated at $4,000.

• On Friday, June 2, a pickup driven by Neely Danine Turner, 43, of Des Moines, was eastbound on Highway 30 when it struck a deer that was running across the highway. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Turner pickup was estimated at $5,000.
