• Jared C. Culver made an initial appearance on two counts of a probation violation charge. The probation revocation hearings will be scheduled by the District Associate Court. Culver is being held without bond.
• Eric Michael McDowell made an initial appearance on a driving while revoked charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is set for 9:30 a.m. on Dec. 6.
• Lorrie Ann Bartlett made an initial appearance on a probation violation charge. The probation revocation hearing will be scheduled by the District Associate Court.
• Mark Arden Sommerlot made an initial appearance on an operating while under the influence-second offense charge and a driving under suspension charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is set for 9:30 a.m. on Dec. 6. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court.

Arrests
• On Wednesday, Nov. 15, Jared Culver, 32, was arrested on a warrant.
• On Wednesday, Nov. 15, Eric McDowell, 44, was arrested for driving while license is denied or revoked and on a warrant.

Accidents
• On Monday, Nov. 13, a car driven by Lindsey Kathrine Salasek, 36, of Marshalltown, was southbound on Underwood Avenue when it struck a deer that entered the roadway. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Salasek car was estimated at $2,500.
• On Thursday, Nov. 9, a car driven by Douglas Kent Durant, 63, of Baxter, was northbound on Hart Avenue when it struck a deer running across the road. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Durant car was estimated at $3,000.
