• Yahia Ahmed Kubara made an initial appearance on an assault causing bodily injury or mental illness charge. Jennie Wilson-Moore is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing has been waived. A no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

• Domingo Antonio Almonte Monegro made an initial appearance on an operating while under the influence-second offense charge and a driving while revoked charge. Jeff Hazen is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is set for 9:30 a.m. on Dec. 28. Bond is set at $3,000 cash. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court.

• Seeson Lewis made an initial appearance on an interference with official acts charge. Lewis pleaded guilty and the fine is $250 with a $37.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $347.50.

• Nicole Marie Scallon made an initial appearance on a theft-fifth degree charge. Dusty Clements is appointed as counsel. The pre-trial conference is set at 9:30 a.m. on Jan. 24, 2024, in Magistrate Court.

• Kelly Nicole Poage made an initial appearance on a theft-fifth degree charge. Scott hunter is appointed as counsel. The pre-trial conference is set for 9:30 a.m. on Jan. 24, 2024, in Magistrate Court.

• Daniel Mendoza made an initial appearance on an application to show cause charge. A contempt hearing is set for 9:30 a.m. on Jan. 26, 2024.

• Jaimee Yajaira Alcaraz Gutierrez made an initial appearance on a possession of marijuana-first offense charge. A preliminary hearing is set for 9:30 a.m. on Jan. 5, 2024. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court.

• Yvenson Porfil made an initial appearance on a parole violation charge. Jennie Wilson-Moore is appointed as counsel. The parole revocation hearing will be set by the Administrative Law Judge.

• On Sunday, Dec. 17, Jennifer Randall, 43, was arrested on a warrant.

• On Sunday, Dec. 17, Domingo Almonte Monegro, 40, was arrested for driving while license is denied or revoked and operating while under the influence-second offense.

• On Saturday, Dec. 16, Justin Chandonia, 38, was arrested for driving while barred-habitual offender.

• On Saturday, Dec. 16, Ricardo Tavera-Nunez, 18, was arrested for driving while barred-habitual offender and eluding-exceeding speed limit by 25 mph or more.

• On Saturday, Dec. 16, Hector Hernandez Hernandez, 32, was arrested for interference with official acts and operating while under the influence-third or subsequent offense.

• On Saturday, Dec. 16, Luis Garcia, 32, was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia and on a warrant.

• On Saturday, Dec. 16, Zachary Umbaugh, 44, was arrested for contempt of court-violation of a no-contact order, domestic abuse assault-first offense-causing bodily injury, child endangerment-substantial risk and on a warrant.

• On Saturday, Dec. 16, Juma Saidi, 30, was arrested for operating while under the influence-first offense, speeding and open container.

• On Saturday, Dec. 16, Hanna Harnden, 24, was arrested for operating while under the influence-first offense and speeding.

• On Saturday, Dec. 16, Shavazzia Edwards, 24, was arrested on a warrant charging driving while license is denied or revoked.

• On Friday, Dec. 15, Dalton Nichols, 29, was arrested for driving while license is denied, canceled, revoked or suspended and speeding.

Accidents

• On Friday, Dec. 15, a Jeep driven by Caleb Ryan Kusserow, 18, of Toledo, was northbound on Underwood Avenue when it struck a deer that entered the roadway. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Kusserow Jeep was estimated at $5,000.

• On Thursday, Dec. 14, a car driven by Lane Thor Schnathorst, 21, of Conrad, was northbound on Sanford Avenue when it struck a deer in the roadway. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Schnathorst car was estimated at $6,000.

• On Thursday, Dec. 14, a pickup driven by Conner Allen Schultz, 20, of Marshalltown, was southbound on Prairie Avenue when it struck a deer in the roadway. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Schultz pickup was estimated at $2,500.

• On Tuesday, Dec. 5, a Jeep driven by Deanna Jo Tibben, 54, of Marshalltown, was westbound on Main Street Road when it struck a deer that entered the roadway from the south ditch. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Tibben Jeep was estimated at $6,500.

• On Saturday, Dec. 2, an SUV driven by Isaiah James Slocum, 16, of Marshalltown, was westbound on Sand Road when it swerved to avoid striking a deer in the roadway, left the roadway, entered the north ditch and rolled onto the driver side. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Slocum SUV was estimated at $8,500.
