• Aung Win made an initial appearance on a failure to maintain control charge and an open container charge. Win pleaded guilty to both charges. The fine on the failure to maintain control is $135 with a $20.25 surcharge and $55 in court costs for a total of $210.25. The fine on the open container is 260 with a $39 surcharge and $55 in court costs is $354.

• Kasmino Moses made an initial appearance on a burglary-second degree charge, an assault with intent to commit sexual abuse charge and a public intoxication charge. Chris Clausen is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is set for 9 a.m. on Jan. 12. Bond is set at $12,000 cash or surety. A no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

• Joseph William Smith made an initial appearance on an assault on persons in certain occupations charge and a interference with official acts-bodily injury charge. The preliminary hearing is set for 9 a.m. on Jan. 19. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel.

• On Monday, Jan. 1, Julio Holguin, 21, was arrested for operating while under the influence-first offense.

• On Monday, Jan. 1, Robert Tavarez Gomez, 27, was arrested for operating while under the influence-first offense.

• On Monday, Jan. 1, Kasmino Moses, 27, was arrested for burglary-second degree, public intoxication-first offense and assault with intent to commit sexual abuse-no injury.

• On Monday, Jan. 1, Aung Win, 38, was arrested for open container and maintain control of motor vehicle.

• On Sunday, Dec. 31, Thawng Lian, 45, was arrested for child endangerment-substantial risk and operating while under the influence-second offense.

• On Saturday, Dec. 30, Jorge Lopez Lara, 40, was arrested for operating while under the influence-first offense.

• On Saturday, Dec. 30, Timothy Leavy, 56, was arrested for violation of windshield or window requirements and driving while barred-habitual offender.

• On Saturday, Dec. 30, Gina Anthony, 31, was arrested for driving while barred-habitual offender.

• On Friday, Dec. 29, Elizabel Mendoza Valdovinos, 22, was arrested for theft-fifth degree.

• On Friday, Dec. 29, Christopher Arment, 27, was arrested for assault with intent to inflict pain or injury.

Arrests

• On Monday, Jan. 1, Cade Bovenmyer, 24, was arrested for failure to maintain or use safety belts, leaving the scene of an accident resulting in serious injury, use of electronic communication device, failure to maintain control, operating a non-registered vehicle, striking fixtures upon public highway, failure to notify change of address/name/fuel type and operating while under the influence-second offense.

• On Monday, Jan. 1, Ramon Garcia Nino, 24, was arrested for driving while license is denied or revoked and no insurance.

• On Monday, Jan. 1, Jamie Johnson, 40, was arrested for operating while under the influence-first offense, failure to change lane approaching emergency vehicle, no insurance and open container.

• On Monday, Jan. 1, Chancey Campbell, 18, was arrested on a warrant charging him with theft-third degree.

• On Monday, Jan. 1, Armando Garcia, 26, was arrested on a warrant charging him with driving while barred-habitual offender.

• On Friday, Dec. 29, David Buerckley, 50, was arrested on a warrant charging him with violation of probation.

Accidents

• On Thursday, Dec. 21, an SUV driven by Brandon James Bonschmit, 22, of Le Grand, was eastbound on Highway 30 when it struck a deer that entered the roadway. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Bonschmit SUV was estimated at $5,500.

• On Monday, Dec. 18, a van driven by Robert James Guipre, 50, of Marshalltown, was southbound on Highway 14 approaching the intersection with 275th Street when it struck a deer. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Guipre van was estimated at $5,000.

• On Friday, Dec. 15, a car driven by Alicia Christine Park, 26, of Ankeny, was northbound on Highway 14 when it struck a deer that entered the roadway totaling the car. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Park car was estimated at $15,000.

• On Friday, dec. 15, a Jeep driven by Haley Pearl Kent, 34, of Albion, was northbound on Hopkins Avenue when it struck a deer that exited the west ditch. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Kent Jeep was estimated at $20,000.
