• Phillip Brooks made an initial appearance on a voluntary absence from custody charge. Jessica Maffitt is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is set for 9:30 a.m. on April 29. Brooks is being held without bond.

• John Charles Lang made an initial appearance on an operating while under the influence-first offense charge and a speeding charge. The preliminary hearing is set for 9:30 a.m. on May 9. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court.

• Miguel Angel Ibarra Lemus made an initial appearance on a sexual abuse-third degree charge. The preliminary hearing is set for 9:30 a.m. on April 29. Bond is set at $10,000 cash or surety. A no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

• Kirsten Kay Bolle made an initial appearance on a driving while barred charge. Erin Carr is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is set for 9:30 a.m. on May 9.

• Jeffrey Lynn Ross made an initial appearance on a parole violation charge. Chris Clausen is appointed as counsel. The parole revocation hearing will be scheduled by the Administrative Law Judge. Ross is being held without bond.

• Miguel Angel Tamayo Martinez made an initial appearance on three counts of a probation violation charge. The probation revocation hearing is set for 2 p.m. on May 22.

• Eric Michael McDowell made an initial appearance on a dog at large charge. McDowell pleaded guilty and the fine is $105 with a $15.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $180.75.

• Fidel Machado Mesa made an initial appearance on a no valid driver’s license charge. A pre-trial conference is set for 9:30 a.m. on May 1 in Magistrate Court.

• Skyler Austin Wright made an initial appearance on an unlawful possession of prescription drugs charge and a possession of marijuana-first offense charge. Jeff Hazen is acting as counsel. The preliminary hearing is set for 9:30 a.m. on May 9. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court.

• Dwight Gatchak Joar made an initial appearance on a possession of drug paraphernalia charge. Joar pleaded guilty and the case was deferred. Joar is placed on six months self probation, ordered to obey all laws and pay a civil penalty of $105 and costs of this action.

• Talon Oneal Telford made an initial appearance on an unlawful passing of a school bus charge. Telford pleaded guilty and the fine is $345 with a $51.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $456.75.

• Aaron Isaac Guevara made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge. Guevara pleaded guilty and the fine is $250 with a $37.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $347.50.

• Jose Juan Garcia Barrera failed to appear for a driving under suspension charge and the court found him guilty. The fine is $250 with a $37.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $347.50.

• Michael Jarad Sommerville failed to make an appearance on a possession of drug paraphernalia charge and the court found him guilty. The fine is $105 with a $15.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $180.75.

• On Thursday, April 18, Abr Herbert, 23, was arrested for assault on persons in certain occupations-in injury.

• On Thursday, April 18, Ramon Santos De La Cruz, 35, was arrested for assault-general.

• On Thursday, April 18, Miguel Angel Ibarra Lemus, 25, was arrested for sexual abuse-third degree-by force-first offense.

• On Thursday, April 18, Phillip Brooks, 37, was arrested on warrants.

• On Thursday, April 18, Jeffrey Ross, 54, was arrested for violation of parole.

Accidents

• On Wednesday, April 10, a pickup driven by Jason Dale Madison, 47, of Marshalltown, was northbound on Smith Avenue approaching the intersection with 270th Street when it struck a second deer that exited the east ditch onto the roadway. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Madison pickup was estimated at $1,500.
