• Jagger Cain Purk made an initial appearance on a failure to appear for an arraignment hearing charge. Jessica Maffitt is acting as counsel. The arraignment is rescheduled for 9:30 a.m. on Oct. 16.
• Tyler Ward Patterson made an initial appearance on a theft-first degree charge and a tampering with records charge. Mark Olberding is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is set for 9:30 a.m. on Oct. 4. Bond is set at $12,000 cash.
• Cole Blake Purdy made an initial appearance on a possession of a controlled substance-second offense charge and a public intoxication charge. Mark Olberding is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is set for 9:30 a.m. on Oct. 16. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court.
• Melissa Marie Carnahan made an initial appearance on a violation of probation charge. Jacob Heard is appointed as counsel. The probation revocation hearing will be scheduled by the District Associate Court. Bond is set at $3,000 cash.
• Debra Sue Harre made an initial appearance on a theft-fifth degree charge. Harre pleaded guilty and the fine is $105 with a $15.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $180.75.
• Shane David Merry failed to appear on a fraudulent use of registration charge and a driving under suspension charge and the court found Merry guilty on both charges. The fine on the fraudulent use of registration is $260 with a $39 surcharge and $55 in court costs for a total of $354. The fine on the driving under suspension is $250 with a $37.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $347.50.
• Kate Marie Reynoldson made an initial appearance on a theft-third degree charge and a trespass-first offense charge. Benjamin Harris-Medina is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is set for 9:30 a.m. on Oct. 16.
• Armando Lemus made an initial appearance on a driving while barred charge, a no insurance charge and a speeding charge. The preliminary hearing is set for 9:30 a.m. on Oct. 16.

Arrests
• On Thursday, Sept. 26, Melissa Carnahan, 49, was arrested on a warrant charging her with violation of probation.
• On Thursday, Sept. 26, Jagger Purk, 31, was arrested on a warrant charging him with theft-fourth degree.
Accidents
• On Tuesday, Sept. 24, a SUV driven by Amanda Ann Honnold, 52, of Nevada, was eastbound on Iowa Avenue West when it struck a deer that jumped on the roadway from the north ditch. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Honnold SUV was estimated at $5,500.
• On Saturday, Sept. 21, a car driven by Soe Reh, 31, of Marshalltown, was northbound on Highway 330 when it struck a deer that entered the roadway from the east ditch. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Reh car was estimated at $5,000.
• On Tuesday, Sept. 10, an SUV driven by Michael Edward Martin, 68, of Union, was northbound on Hopkins Avenue when it struck a deer that ran onto the roadway. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Martin SUV was estimated at $7,500.

• On Thursday, Sept. 26, Tyler Patterson, 60, was arrested for theft-first degree-bad check more than $10,000 and tampering with records.
