• Kellen Joseph Nail made an initial appearance on two counts of a no insurance-accident charge. A pre-trial conference is set for 9:30 a.m. on Sept. 25 in Magistrate Court.
• Jeffry Lynn Schultz made an initial appearance on a violation of probation charge. Christopher Clausen will continue as counsel. The probation revocation hearing is set for 10:30 a.m. on Oct. 9. Bond is set at $4,000 cash.
• Natalie Jean Purdy made an initial appearance on a probation violation charge, a violation of a no-contact order (out of Tama County) charge and a possession of drug paraphernalia charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel for the probation charge. The probation revocation hearing is set for 11 a.m. on Oct. 9. Purdy is being held without bond. Mark Torche is appointed as counsel for the two new charges. A non-jury trial is set for 9:30 a.m. on Sept. 18. A no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

A no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

• Tatelynn Tommie Bratland made an initial appearance on a criminal mischief-fifth degree charge. A pre-trial conference is set for 9:30 am. on Sept. 25 in Magistrate Court.
• Brylan Robert Bethke made an initial appearance on a contributing to the delinquency of a minor charge. A pre-trial conference is set for 9:30 a.m. on Sept. 25 in Magistrate Court.

• Carlos Eduardo Medina Romero made an initial appearance on a driving while under suspension charge. Medina Romero pleaded guilty and the fine is $250 with a $37.50 surcharge and a $60 in court costs for a total of $347.50.

• On Thursday, Sept. 5, Natalie Purdy, 26, was arrested on a warrant charging her with possession of drug paraphernalia – violation of probation and contempt of court/violation of a no contact order.
Accidents
• On Wednesday, Aug. 28, a car driven by Moises Alberto Pablo Pablo, 22, of Marshalltown, was westbound on 290th Street when it struck a deer that entered the roadway. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Pablo Pablo car was estimated at $5,000.
• On Tuesday, Aug. 27, an SUV driven by Robert Steven Hazen, 38, of Marshalltown, was southbound on Highway 14 when it struck a deer that entered the roadway. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Hazen SUV was estimated at $12,000, totaling the vehicle.
