• Gary Lee Shaw II made an initial appearance on an assault on persons in certain occupations charge and an assault causing bodily injury or mental illness charge. Mark Olberding is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is set for 9:30 a.m. on April 17. Bond is set at $1,000 cash or surety.
• Wesley Thomas Rebik made an initial appearance on a possession of drug paraphernalia charge. A pre-trial conference is set for 9:30 a.m. on April 30 in Magistrate Court.
• Ngun Nei Sang made an initial appearance on a operating while under the influence-first offense charge. The preliminary hearing is set for 9:30 a.m. on April 25. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court.
• Francisco Izaguirre Silva made an initial appearance on a violation of probation charge and a driving while barred charge. The probation revocation hearing is set for 11:30 a.m. on May 21. The preliminary hearing on the driving charge is set for 9:30 a.m. on April 17. Bond is set at $2,000 cash in the defendant’s name only.
• Rossel Linarez Ciprian made an initial appearance on a violation of probation charge. Jennie Wilson-Moore is appointed as counsel. The probation revocation hearing is set for 9 a.m. on April 21. Bond is set at $25,000 cash or surety.
• A 15-year-old male made an initial appearance on a curfew violation charge. The juvenile pleaded guilty and the fine is $105 with a $15.75 surcharge an $60 in court costs for a total of $180.75.
• Jovana Julia Sofian made an initial appearance on an eluding-second or subsequent offense charge, possession of firearm by a felon charge, a driving while barred charge, a reckless driving charge, three counts of a failure to obey a stop sign and yield the right of way charge, two counts of a speeding charge, a passing on grade or hill charge, a dark windows/windshield charge and a failure to obey a traffic control charge. Jennifer Weaver is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is set for 9:30 a.m. on April 25.
• James Michael Dunbar made an initial appearance on an unlawful passing of a school bus-first offense charge. A pre-trial conference is set for 9:30 a.m. on April 30 in Magistrate Court.

Arrests
• On Sunday, April 6, Rossel Linarez Ciprian, 43, was arrested on a warrant charging him with violation of probation.
• On Saturday, April 5, Venessa Salyers, 35, was arrested on a warrant charging her with violation of probation and operating while under the influence-first offense.
• On Saturday, April 5, James Doyle, 22, was arrested on a warrant charging him with violation of probation, sex offender registration requirement violation-second offense and absense from custody.
• On Saturday, April 5, William Speas, 64, was arrested on a warrant charging him with two counts of driving while license is denied, canceled, revoked or suspended.
Accidents
• On Saturday, April 5, an SUV driven by Fortino Carrillo, 34, of Marshalltown, was eastbound on Marshalltown Boulevard when it struck a deer that ran out onto the travelled portion of the roadway resulting in disabling damage. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Carrillo SUV was estimated at $3,500.
