• Damyniq Clowe Hagen Shoumaker made an initial appearance on a criminal mischief-second degree charge, an operating a motor vehicle without consent charge, a possession of marijuana-second offense charge, a possession of drug paraphernalia charge, a driving on the wrong side of a two-way highway charge, a failure to obey a stop sign and yield the right of way charge, a no insurance-accident charge and a driving under suspension charge. The preliminary hearing is set for 9:30 a.m. on May 16. Bond is set at $45,000 cash in defendant’s name only. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court.

• Shane Michael Jansen made an initial appearance on a failure to appear for an initial appearance on a burglary-third degree charge. Jennifer Weaver is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is set for 9:30 a.m. on May 16. Bond is set at $5,000 cash or surety.

• Diego Osvaldo Ramirez made an initial appearance on a no valid driver’s license charge. Ramirez pleaded guilty and the fine is $260 with a $39 surcharge and $55 in court costs for a total of $354.

• Blaine Douglas Hall made an initial appearance on a voluntary absence from custody charge. The preliminary hearing will be scheduled by the District Associate Court. Hall is being held without bond.

Arrests

• On Monday, May 5, Damyniq Shoumaker, 22, was arrested for driving while license is denied, canceled, revoked or suspended; eluding-willful failure to stop for law enforcement-enhancement-second or subsequent offense; possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana-second offense, failure to yield upon entering stop/yield intersection, driving on wrong side of roadway, no insurance-accident, operating a motor vehicle without owner’s consent and criminal mischief-second degree public property.

• On Monday, May 5, Blaine Hall, 25, was arrested on a warrant charging him with violation of probation and absence from custody.

Accidents

• On Sunday, May 4, a car driven by Joshua John Saunders, 37, of Newton, was eastbound on Highway 30 when it struck a deer that entered the roadway resulting in significant damage to the vehicle. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Saunders car was estimated at $12,000.
